I think that people are naturally more adventurous when young but this declines as we get older. When younger, I travelled to Eastern Europe after the fall of Communism and even visited America. Of course, my glaucoma makes me less inclined to do that kind of thing now . Having said that, I will still take "risks" if the potential reward is greater than the downside or if I just feel like it, so I'd say that I was a 3.

Matter of opinion, and how you define "risk taker" I guess.

I take risks when I think I have to, but I am absolutely the furthest thing from someone who takes risks for the thrill of it.

I'm sure that I do things that some other people see as risks, but that I don't see that way at all. And of course, I think a lot of us are CALCULATED risk takers, and don't think of ourselves as "risk takers.

I guess I'm trying to distinguish between "risk taker" and "thrill seeker."

I do have a little of the spirit of a thrill seeker in me, in that I will often explore the other side of arguments that most people think are already certain one way or another. I tend to get a bit rebellious, the more smug and certain people around me seem to be about whatever is going on.

Men Taurus are definitely different. I have a man friend that has no problem risk taking has traveled and lived many places in the US. But he is a Professional, so maybe that's the big difference.

In my 20's to 40's I would have been 4/5 calculated risk taker,
now nearly 60 yo maybe 2/5, - or 3/5 on my bikes and boats.

Often plan and prepare to minimise risks, but murphy's law still always applies.
And the law of maximum inconvenience, too.

I'm not sure Toody, maybe his lifestyle gives him comfort? Some people aren't comfortable staying in one place for years and years, so if that was the case, having a profession that allows you to travel and move around is perfect.

I don't consider risk. I just jump in and do whatever. Maybe I've been lucky and nothing has set me back to far yet.

Hmmmm... not sure of that. Taurus like their security regardless of gender. I think again it's more a matter of money as money is security and stability.
I've also travelled a lot when younger, and still love it, high on my list of things to do! But then there's that money issue again...
If you have a solid job or at least good credentials so you can find work that pays well everywhere I'd not have a problem with it either.
But... I then also don't consider it a risk! It's change, yes, but still safe.
Living in different places is also not a problem for me, I've moved house 17x in life! Including abroad. I don't have roots anywhere because of that. Longest I've ever lived in 1 place is 9 years, the shortest 3 months.
Again, as long as you have some security somewhere somehow.
Maybe the money thing is more important for Taurus than others? Not sure. But essentially that equals safety.
