Ok, I know this is a dating website and I have complete respect for people who are seeking to get to know people and find their better half. But are any of you getting random ims from people for the first time...talking to them for about 5 minutues and then having them try and pressure you to get involved in a long distance relationship with them or fly out to wherever they live so they can "take care" of you? I'm relatively new to this site and I've been getting a lot of those ims, which I find weird because my profile states that I'm looking for friendship. However, even if I were looking for a relationship, I'd at least want to get to talking with someone for a good amount of time and then meeting them before commiting to anything. So I find it weird that these people are wanting to "settle down" right away with me, after talking for 5 minutes. Is that how this online dating stuff works? What are your thoughts?

I had a man from Ohio (the same state I live in), try to pull that on me. It's some sort of scam, as far as I'm concerned. The person probably has a criminal history, therefore they try desparate acts to try and see if they can catch a sucker. It won't be me!

Well kind of a nieve question, but you are prolly young.

Just being "female" you are going to get hit with everything including the kitchen sink from a LOT of guys that are typing to you and its not the head on top of thier shoulders telling them what to type.

Realistically, many guys will "poke" anything that will let them. It's sad but true..have seen it too many times.

So be REAL carefull little lady..there is a LOT of bad out there, and not much good..so you learn to weed through the sh*t to get to the good flowers.

On a side note, I'm not looking for my "better half", just looking to SHARE my life with one special woman. I have been taking care of myself since i was 16...i cook, I clean, I do my laundry. So I depend on one person..myself, because I can control only ONE person in this world too..that's myself. The rest I share with everyone else
