I was just wondering after seeing the post about the date rape drug ... who on this site has met people and gone on a date? What were your experiences? How long did you talk before meeting? I want to hear good and bad experiences.

I know there is no good timeframe for when to give out numbers or when to meet but I just thought this would be a good topic to get going.

I haven't met anyone in person from here, but I have from other sites. Nothing bad that way so far, though I did have one that turned out pretty bitter. I always exchanged info b4 meeting, would give her all my contact info & vice versa to give eachothers parents. When both parties do that, it's usualy a safe bet but you should still try & confirm all the info first;^]

I've never met anyone from JSH, but I have met 9 people from other sites. 8 of those were absolutely horrendous experiences, and the 9th was the best girlfriend I've ever had.

The length of time before meeting in person ranged from 2 weeks to just about a year.

Since I don't drink and I don't go to bars, there was never any issue of "spiking a drink" or anything. First meetings were at public places, usually a bookstore or a mall.

The biggest problem was the sheer dishonesty of the people I was meeting. One turned out to be an arsonist, another worked in a store and was stealing clothes out of it; just a very bad group, but good enough at hiding things until it was time to meet face to face. Still, I learned a lot, so it was worth it, I guess.

I have. and we went out after a week of chatting she was cool the first 2 weeks. then changed into a complete weirdo.

I've met someone and it was fun he took me to a nice thai restaurant adn then we went to this local christmas stroll... he was sweet

I've met people from the internet (not from dating sites) and i've never gotten drugged or seen it happen but you never know make sure you know the person well.

I've met my share of men from online dating services. The only thing that I would suggest to you is...make sure that you meet at a public place, let a friend have his email address and cell or home phone number. Have any of them worked out...no. But I see it as....all experiences lead me to where I am right now. How can that be a BAD thing?

lol...only once from the internet..she might have been a nice person, but.....she alleged to be 5'6" and athletic, and her pic showed it...In reality, she was about 5'2 tall, and about 5'6" across...weighed a good 350 - 400 pounds. The pic was of her neighbor lady. I figured if she would deceive about that then there was no trusting anything she said. We went to dinner and then I went home.

Why would people lie about what they look like and then meet you? LOL, I never understood that...

I have never figured that out either, like it would not be obvious when you see them. A little bit of stretching maybe, but such a disparity was a complete shock...

have done everything imaginable on dates, and quite a few that are not imaginable. Anything that can be done can be done as a date

I have had a few dates and 2 relationships from online dating. All the people I have met have been wonderful. But my last girlfriend was the love of my life and I am heartbroken we are no longer together.

However, I would highly reccommend online dating to anyone. Just be very careful....

hi gina well i havent been on here very long but have meet 1 gentlemen he was here on in new york we chatted found out that he likes the motown 45 club here in new york so we made it a double date me an my sister him an his best friend it was nice but no sparks or anything so we are friends but he lives in england so it all depends, i see nothing wrong with meeting people as long as it in a public place...

i've been on a few dates with myself.we sat here watching a movie on the computer and getting music.it was very romantic and we're both in love with each other...

I have met 3 people from a different site...I met them at a public place and before we actually met we talked for a couple of months, first via email, then phone...
I am really good friends with 2 of the guys I met...The other one wasn't what he said he was...
But it was a good experience for me...I now have 2 good friends that I met on a site and we still keep in touch to this day!..So it was worth it for me...
Just be careful, listen to your "gut"...
