I'm gunna expand a bit on the link for Watch2Gether.

Back when I first started my forum we set up a Watch2Gether room for our own lil community MST3K Riff Sessions.

What we did was announce on the forum of a date and time for members to come to the room and tune in.
We played various low budget bad films and we used the chat feature to riff on the movie.
Hilariously funny and all from the comfort of your own home or whereever you were when you linked in.

I even did a series of graphics for the events.

Rifftown is now no longer featured at my forum but here is some support which might give you some ideas on how to start your own...


The Reason for the schedule forum is so members can plan their visits and know what is playing, when. It allows them to make time for the movie and gives them something they can commit to.

The Schedule topics should be locked for members so they cant post but can only read. Staff updates the schedule as replies so we have a running list of the movies that were featured and when.

Example of how it should run is for the topic Wednesday Schedule there will be an inital topic post and all other Wednesday movie-chats will be entered as replies sending only the newest changes to the top.

This way if members find their schedules are free on a certain day they can look to see which movie-chats will be featured on their day.

Its gunna be slow at first but as more members sign up and participate it will populate fast. As more staff comes online someone might be assigned to Movie-Chat Moderator to handle the volume and host chats.

Its more fun when multiple people (you do have friends right?) are watching and chatting with you.

Where I live we don't have a reliable High-Speed Interweb for seamless streaming. Hell, we don't even have cable out here. So to compensate, I've accrued a modest physical DVD TV and Movie collection to satisfy my entertainment needs.

I much prefer the older series than most of the new stuff on the tube. Between the splurge of movies, over the past few months I've worked through the entire run of The West Wing, the first 6 seasons of Criminal Minds, the first 10 seasons of CSI, the entire run of Forever Knight, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and the original Kolchak: The Night Stalker.

I'm currently working on Season 3 of Wonder Woman with Lynda Carter.

My gf and I are on the final season of Haven.
I have the first 5 seasons of the X-files unzipped and ready to watch.
We already watched Surface, Sanctuary, Firefly (w/Serenity), Kindred: The Embraced, Kingdom Hospital, Primeval & Primeval: New World, Quincy, Shannara, Terra Nova, Chilhood's End and special Unit Two.

Two shows that never got the opportunity to blossom into what they could have been. I still need to see Serenity, but Firefly was up there IMO in Star Trek territory. The Shepherd (Ron Glass) character was just starting to get interesting. I would have loved to see that development happen over time. Surface was also just getting interesting and they killed it. There are so many shows that have died like this and yet somehow all that other trash still remains for years on the air.
