How can you be proud of something that you didn’t even work hard on it or at least choose it ? Did anyone choose his or her birthplace? I think the right word is grateful and not proud

I am an Indian. And I am very proud of my nation. But nowadays many Indians in the internet just tarnish the name of country by their immature and vulgar behaviours. Such people make me sick and they always piss off other people.
