Topic: Was Jesus God? | |

Why are you all so sure that a limb won't grow back? |

Merry Christmas to everyone We all know Jesus is God No matter how you may try to twist things Jesus will still be God, will still be watching everything you do or do not do And you will have to face him on judgement day I dont think there has ever been anything else on this earth that so mady have tried so hard to prove wrong, and only come up with the proof that it happen the way the book says Just like politics today if someone tells a lie, those who oppose them will quickly stand up to say they are lieing. I think it is very funny that so many who say they do not believe are willing to spend so much effort trying to prove to others that they do not believe |

Merry Christmas to everyone We all know Jesus is God .....uh, no. No we don't. Please don't take it upon yourself to speak for others. You have every right to believe whatever you like. We don't "all" agree. |

Thank you, DKW. ![]() ![]() ![]() Frankly, I can't imagine what it must be like to live with the pomposity, arrogance, self-absorption and sheer unbridled self-righteousness required to go around dictating to people what they "know".... When the reality is that none of us "knows" anything about this subject.... But then, this "I know everything and I am always right and the rest of you are going to hell" attitude is all too prevalent here. |

And I re-quote When the reality is that none of us "knows" anything about this subject..... Lex - I don't pretend to assume what you know, but I would appreciate it if you weren't being a "pomposity, arrogance, self-absorption and sheer unbridled self-righteousness" what-ever, and tell me what you think I DON'T know. Thanx. ![]() |

Thanx. ![]() I'm not the one saying "we all know...." I'm not the one trying to dictate to other people what anyone does or does not know.... Frankly, I realize I don't know anything about the "reality" of God -- which is one of the main reasons I believe (at this moment) that there IS no such reality. But I certainly don't "know" that for a fact. You will never see me trying to push my beliefs down anyone else's throat, because I a.) have no right to do so, and b.) have nothing concrete and tangible to support my belief. Just like the fundies. The difference is, I'm open to listening to other viewpoints. My best friend is about as devout a Christian as you will meet, and we talk about these topics frequently. If you honestly believe that it's pompous and arrogant of me to resent a total stranger trying to speak FOR me, then I think you missed the whole point of my post. |

'WE' doesnt refer to you atheists. Sorry LEX, we is all us christans who know this. That's not specified in the post. Without some sort of qualifiers, I assume "all" means "all." In fact, if you look at the post, it says: "Merry Christmas to everyone We all know Jesus is God" The use of the term "everyone" indicates the context is all-inclusive. The immediate followup contains the word "all" -- you're telling me that the poster switched from the univerally-inclusive "everyone" to a drastically-truncated interpretation of "all," and we're automatically supposed to know of the shift? That makes no sense in the absence of a qualifier. If he hadn't prefaced using "everyone," I would have to concede the possible legitimacy of your point. As it stands, either "everyone" and "all" are intended to be synonymous, or we would have to be mind-readers to catch the difference. Unless you're going to tell me that "everyone" actually means "all Christians who believe that Jesus is God" -- which, frankly, is one heck of a stretch. And the original statement is still in error, even if you exclude atheists in toto. Plenty of other people, with any number of religious affiliations, don't believe Jesus and God are one and the same. Even some Christians. |

There are only two kinds of people in this world.
Those who admit they are agnostic, and those who are delusional. |

I didn't read all the thread but I find it unsettling that people don't know if jesus was god or not in this day and age.
As far as I know, jesus was god's son. His son was sacrificed (?) for us. Why is there so much confusion around this, am I wrong?. And why aren't people allowed to believe what they want, when given sound information? You can take a horse to water, but you can't make him drink... |

Perhaps God doesn't cure amputee victims, because doing so would be damaging to the greater good?
What good is faith, when some amputee grows back a missing arm? Instant proof of God. Faith goes out the window. Miraculous healings are plausibly deniable, because the doctors can sit back and scratch their heads..."What happened?" But a new arm overnight, that's going to do more than raise eyebrows and cause people to scratch their heads. |

No, I knew exactly what you meant. But the post that I quoted this from was a much better representation of it, and I just called you out on it, because I knew you had it in you! ![]() |
