There is an exception to the inanimate object names thing.
Siri. Artificial Intelligence. As AI becomes more commonplace, inanimate objects will possess personality. Personally, I have no devices with AI or simulated AI. I can, however, see it as an exception to my personal rule. If one day, my refigerator calls me fat, I'm gunna punch it in its sensor.

Do you name your toys or home? What would you name it? I would have a yacht and call it "Farcanal".

No, I don't put pet names on inanimate objects. My computer is a computer, my truck is a truck. I also don't assign human traits, give them human emotions or imagine they have motives. If my computer crashes, its not mad at me or feeling sick. When my truck doesn't start - its broken. I put away those delusions and started embracing reality. Life got much easier. And no, I don't name my pecker. Ok....
