I don't know if I am alone on this...but that phrase has always bothered me. I for one enjoy being a black man...I love everything about being a black person. So why would I want to live in a world/society that "stripped" me of that or didn't acknowledge that? We should just see people as people...that isn't possible is it? If it was...would you want it to be possible?? Shouldn't we instead work to see/acknowledge/embrace the differences instead of 'erasing' them?? I agree, not so much for skin color but for our ancesteries anyway. I'm proud of my Irish ansestery as well as my Chickasaw and Hebrewic ancestors. Our ancestors are very much a part of us today & it's sad (in my humble) that sooo many people today don't know where they came from. Of course judging a person is a differant story, judging should be done by a persons actions/ charchter rather than anything else;^] |
