I don't know if I am alone on this...but that phrase has always bothered me. I for one enjoy being a black man...I love everything about being a black person. So why would I want to live in a world/society that "stripped" me of that or didn't acknowledge that? We should just see people as people...that isn't possible is it? If it was...would you want it to be possible?? Shouldn't we instead work to see/acknowledge/embrace the differences instead of 'erasing' them?? I agree completely. Keep your identity, do not let anyone strip it from you. But at the same time be vigilant and accept others for who they are. |

I treat people the way I want to be treated. I was brought up to respect people no matter what their color is. I can kick it wit anyone. I can hang out wit anyone.We would have a good time no matter what the age difference. Musicians are like that. Age after all isn`t anything but a number. Rock On.

I'll leave it simple that I agree with you and you should enjoy your uniqueness.
In 1989 I joined a group of musicians (All brothers and all "brothers"). I was the token white guy and loved the title. We made fun of ourselves while we knew the reality of "other idiots". However, we played all over the Bay Area to all colors, sexual orientations, Hells Angels, White doctors from Kaiser with no problem and everyone enjoyed us as people. I think the people who can't stand seeing the hate are the ones who say they wish there was no color. This is so they can spread the message that we are all of the same cloth...... I don't think its the right way but maybe it makes a dent in someone who needs to be dented. Ghandi Rules! |
