I have not heard from Jehovah's Witness for ages. A long time ago, I had been telling them "Thank you, but I'm a Catholic" and quickly closed the door. I had to, because they would insist on talking or giving you their pamphlets.

Last time was a few years ago. I greeted them like they were old friends. We stood on the porch and talked about their religion and I kept asking questions. Then some old guy walked up, gave the women a dirty look and ushered them away. I followed them while asking them to come back. As they moved faster on their way I got louder and louder till they turned the corner. Sadly, they haven't been back...I wasn't finished. No fun at all. :) |

Poor JW's, they were only trying to spread their love.... |

Poor JW's to have met such a philosopher like you 🤣🤣 |

I inform the younger one that the book that they hold so sacred was written by an ex defence atorney with no previous history or knowledge of religion, some time in the 1940s. and then look at the older one and wait. they go. and dont come again. You can only do it once per house though. no fun.. :( Oh, I am sure your neighbours would accommodate you and your firm boundaries. |

Personally, as a woman I think the women are very brave knocking on people's doors. |

I invite them in, then lock the door and tell them about my journeys and the stories therein, and not let them out till I've finished.... they start acting like they have to go to the bathroom or something.... and I go no, but this is really important.

I only got to do it twice. so I'm "half nice"
They would come by in vans relentlessly, so I figured the table needs turning. I wasn't mean, I just rambled on too long for the many vans. they all parked in front of my house the whole time. |

Lecture them and send them home.

Lecture them and send them home. Oh Sounds like a plan that could work? Are you a Professor at a University by any chance? Lecturing implies teaching a group who can not comment, but have to listen. |

Open the door if I am not busy (if I am busy I don't open the door for anyone) and say thank you for your concern for me but not interested then close the door.

There was a time when I felt like most who have posted here. About six and a half years ago I was visited by a lady at a park I used to go to, a very troubling time in my life. For some reason I didn't tell her to go away, though I did tell her I have different spiritual beliefs. We talked for a while and shared our individual beliefs. Then she pulled out one of those pamphlets and asked if she could leave it with me. I was about to tell her not to waste it when I saw a message on the cover. It was an answer to a question I had in my mind that was troubling me. It had a different meaning to me than what their religion taught, but a message from spirit that I needed to hear.
The next year or so was still a struggle for me and I would go to the park from time to time waiting for my earth angel... that's what I called her. She always managed to show up when I needed it the most, always with a message that I needed to hear, just not the one she intended to give me. She respected that I would never convert but felt guided to watch over me regardless. It was about five years ago that having this woman in my life changed my life so much for the better. She helped me get to a safe place so I could recover from a traumatic experience, heal, and turn my life around for the better. When I called her she was right there to help, no questions asked. About six months after that I saw her in the store and thanked her. She still invited me to her church and I still said no thank you. I saw her again a year later in the store and she was excited that things were going well for me. We hugged and told each other to have a good day. That was the last I saw my earth angel, guess she served her purpose in my life. Though I don't have the same beliefs as JW's, I respect anyone's right to their beliefs. From my own experience, I believe whole heartedly that people show up in your life for a reason. And sometimes messages come from the most peculiar places. Today I'm truly grateful I didn't tell her to go away. |

We went into Jehovah's Witnesses together as they knocked on our door. He stayed, but I questioned too much and eventually left. |

He stayed, but I questioned too much and eventually left. I believe that can happen with any religion. You have a few, or many, that become holier than thou. It's like a tunnel vision and damn anyone who tries to question their belief, whether it be new founded or lifelong. To me it's sad, like they have to cast out anyone who may threaten that belief system. I once had someone become very agitated to the point of yelling, from a different denomination, because I told him I believed man wrote the bible, not God. I just smiled and say good day to him. I'm sorry that happened to you with your brother. It's sad when that happens. |
