Right now, both DC and Marvel are coming out with some of the best stuff I've seen in ages. Booster Gold and Jonah Hex from DC, and with World War Hulk, I'm actually excited about the character again. Knox, funny you should mention Booster -- I've got his action figure on my desk, along with Mary Marvel and the original clunky gray Iron Man from Suspense #39.... |

anybody ever read "Quiver?" its a green aarow story written by Kevin Smith. pretty great. I'll never read a Kevin Smith comic book story in my life for two reasons: 1.Daredevil:Father 2.Spider-Man/Black Cat:The Evil Men Do Smith is the most chronically late writer in comics. SM/BC was delayed in the middle of it's run for TWO YEARS! There is NO excuse as to why a limited series should be late. Of course, on the artist's side, Smith's equivelent is Rob Liefeld. My favorite current titles are Booster Gold and Jonah Hex. If Smith and/or Liefeld signed on to do them, I'd drop them in a heartbeat--of course, as late as they'd come out, I might not even notice. |

im not sure what the name of it was but kevin smith did an amazing daredevil run in 99, where the character karen dies and mysterio pulls a kraven n blows his brains out at the end
I think the best writer (As ive stated b4) is allen moore and art-wise i think alex ross is divine |

It seems every comic-book fan over 40 whines about how "comic books were so much better then than now".
Well, I'm 45 and have been reading comics since the late 60s, basically ever since I first learned how to read. And I'm here to proudly say that I think we're truly in another "Golden Age" of comics. There's more out there now than ever--anyone who doesn't think so simply isn't looking. There are comics being done today by Marvel, DC, and indys that are better than anything that's been done before. Hey, I've got a soft spot for things done all through the ages of comics. But, why compare comics from different eras? Just enjoy them all for what they are--damn entertaining! |

plus comic art from before the mid 90s sucked compared 2 now, they didnt have computers
I mean older comics r readable and plenty entertaining but the art nowdays looks beautiful compared 2 it |

plus comic art from before the mid 90s sucked compared 2 now, they didnt have computers I mean older comics r readable and plenty entertaining but the art nowdays looks beautiful compared 2 it When the Image guys left Marvel in the early 90s to form Image Comics, their early stuff there was hugely popular. Marvel--and to a lesser extent, DC--decided that if the Image art style worked for Image, imagine what it'd do for them. Good Lord, I've never seen worse art in the history of comics. Check out the 90s series "Fantastic Four Unlimited", a 64 page quarterly book featuring--get this--70s Hulk artist Herb Trimpe trying his damndest to do Rob Liefeld-style art. Abomination is way too kind a word to describe it. |

i like malibus comics from about a decade ago
the ultraverse was better than dc or marvel |
Comics are currently the best they've been since the 80s....even better, in fact, because a LOT of books have good writers on them.
Neal Gaiman Alan Moore Warren Ellis Garth Ennis Mark Millar Grant Morrison Joss Whedon Brian Michael Bendis and the list goes on.... |
Ah soemone finally mentioned bendis! I feel ashamed i didnt say it till now but ultimate spiderman is one of the best comics out there right now, better by far than the 616 spiderman
Bendis is a good plotter and a decent scripter, but his dialogue sucks. No one talks in constant choppy sentences like he thinks. The closest comparison to it that I can think of is the TV show "Sports Night". Headache-inducing dialogue. reading it isn't really much better. Let him script, but please, get a new dialogue writer.

the saving grace of the dcu is batman: baddest dude in comics EVER

Punisher vs Batman
would be awesome, since both have no super powers lol watsoeva plus they are both are anti heros to me or well Punisher is more ruthless but i can see it now Frank vs Bruce for sure! |
batman would wail on punisher, hes the best kung fu fighter in the dcu, hes beaten lady shiva, batman eats punks like frank castle for breakfast, not that punisher isnt tough but hes no batman
now batman versus ironman! that would be a fight! though again i think tony relies too much on his machinery and batman would win I really odnt think there r 2 many (reasonable) fights that batman couldnt win |

I know who would school Batman. The Man Without Fear. That's right. DAREDEVIL. This guy has schooled Wolverine, The Punisher, Kingpin, Spiderman, and yes he's even schooled the Green Goliath The Hulk |
