Not much of anything is as I was told before coming here. I came here specifically for this job, to help me with future positions... so I could move out of physically demanding jobs and ones that don't challenge me in any way shape or form, lol. It's supposed to be for a year.

Yes, and since I signed a paper stating I would be receptionist for a year, I think I have a pretty good case. Chances are though, the other inconsistencies will drive me crazy and I'll tip the whole damn boat over

No, it's not. No one around here seems surprised. It happened to a couple people in the sister resort I worked at in Florida as well... must be a corporate thing. Very poor management in my opinion.

Can you call the department of labor to find out your rights?

Yes, I could. But it most likely won't do any good. They aren't breaking any laws and technically aren't breaching the contract. My job title on paper is receptionist and that is what I'm getting paid for... but they also add in the job description "other"... which includes any other work necessary.

At work tonight I focused on more of the positive things. The fact that I am working in a spa is a good thing. I guess in a way it doesn't matter exactly what I'm doing right now at the moment, what matters is I got a position in the spa. Just being there will teach me enough to be able to work in another spa. And eventually, as time goes on they will be training me as a receptionist... at least that's what I was told.

I get a lot of the services there free, the services that will help me get in better shape, like yoga classes, water aerobics, and the fitness center. The paid for services are extremely cheap for me because I work there. I've been thinking of everything that is wrong with the place instead of what's good about it and how lucky I am to be living in the beautiful place I'm in.

Guess it's time to put my big girl panties on, quit complaining, and start enjoying what I have. A gratitude list each day wouldn't hurt either.

Yes, it's really cool to watch. There's dark rain clouds right now that are dipping below the mountains, it's an amazing sight.

Now if I can just ignore the couple of minor/major details concerning the job and housing... all will be well.
