There are great movie stars and celebrities but was wondering how many of us think this guy made a difference. Or anybody else like him.
I am 62 years of age at this writing and I am a scarred man due to the times I grew up in. I am a child of the 1960's and I BELIEVE that was a time that will not be seen again ......ever! Television grew up and reached its true potential during that time because there were serious changes happening in that decade, with the Viet Nam war,the Black Panthers,F.B.I, C.I.A, the Hippies, etc, and then there was ...........ALI! He set the bar so high for athletes that anyone who didn’t take a political stance for the betterment of the small man was considered a sellout or selfish. This is why I have no respect for Micheal Jordan who during the issue's that took place in L.A ,he said nothing! This all happened because of Ali, man I remember how He , ALI used to walk down the street in New Haven Ct. with no bodyguards or thugs laughing and talking with his "people"! He let you know and said it , that WE were what mattered to him! He would pick up the poorest looking kid in the crowd and hug and kiss them and ask them what they thought about this or that, MAN! ...I WAS THERE,I SAW IT! and that kid became a celeb from then on! He would stop while a dude was fixing his car and help him with his tools all the time joking and buying soda's for the crowd, WE were all high on the love that MAN gave to us all, and He walked down Dixwell Ave with a large crowd following him all the while. This went on for about 2 hours and then he would walk to his car and He and his driver would ride to New York. I remember my aunt Trini saw this cop she didnt like and she called him out and called him a bunch of "m***a f***a's" and ALI laughed and said "Wow! You badder than me"! and all had a good laugh about that! Now everybody’s gone and so are those times. Anyone who considers themselves a celeb has no time for everyday people. People like Michael Jordan who could've made a difference and helped some people and saved some lives have no sincerity in their hearts to do anything that doesn’t bring money. When you reach a certain level of celebrity you control a certain spotlight and people take heed to your opinions and mindset, it seems to come with the territory and he said ....nothing! So I now realize that I came up during a special decade where people did not stand idle which is why things are better for those who enjoy that celebrity that they take for granted which is why it is beginning to erode from a place you cannot see.....the heart, but I guess they shouldn’t be concerned being that is a part that you don’t have. |

Humm first of all not sure who wrote the above but they need to do research before they down another Celebrity of what they do as far as Charities...with their money..
Michael Jordan has given millions to St. Jude's Hospital as well as other Charities... https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2017/10/09/michael-jordan-donates-7-million-to-fund-health-clinics-in-charlottes-at-risk-areas/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.8152b54f6590 There are and were many celebrity's that do not have body guards with them all the time and walk alone when they are out site seeing.. I meet Johnny Cash and June Carter on the River Walk in San Antonio years ago they were out walking up and down the river walk enjoying the sites by themselves.. Myself I have read where many of the Celebrities have taken the time to make a difference... Many of those that are in the Music business gave concerts and donated it all to the Hurricane/Flood Victims.. I can't say that there is just one that has done something good with all the money they have made even tho they are not required to do so... |
