A federal judge in Texas ruled that the current military draft is unconstitutional because it only includes men. With women being able to serve in military combat roles, the draft must either be abolished or include women. Should be interesting to see where this goes!!

Humm really don't see where there is a issue adding Women to the Draft they will need to word it differently.....

Due to we don't seem to have two Specific Genders anymore, it will need to include all Genders they will allow within the Military.

Women have been part of the Military for many years and all Volunteered did not have to worry about drafting them...

I don't see that we will need the Draft but many laws need to be changed and updated with the times, or at least enforced..

Since so many people are huge fans of Israel....it's worth notning *they* have had women required to do military duty for many, many decades...

I only see it as an added expense for the compensation involved in caring for families where both mom AND dad have to go to war, and the expense of the additional training, and feminine necessities that come along with female care.

women are permitted in the military, yes, but the training has to be passed to show they can hang. Mandating all of them go is more regressive than progressive.

Basic training is the same as it should be. Many men are not considered capable of being in the military. I think the last I saw was around 35-40% of men were acceptable to the military.

I obviously dont know how the draft works as I have never had to, even though I have four brothers. But Id say if the draft is just drafting to an ASSESSMENT, physical and mental, to determine fitness for duty, it could work. I do believe men and women have different physical strength that would keep most women from serving anyhow.

There currently is no active draft as we have an all volunteer military. The requirement is that all men sign up for the draft at their 18th birthday. This would only come into play if an active draft were declared.

Great, two years in South East Asia forty-five years ago, and now they tell me the draft is illegal.

It should be abolished, only those wanting to join the military should go. Whether it be a man or Woman. Many lives are lost in wars.

its is really selective and never really intended to use a draft but they say the number of people entering the service is down. because of the great expense of people who are being injured or killed by war in Afghanistan. all wounded warriors deserve our respect.

So once again someone decided to waste our tax payers dollars and time. The draft also targets people age 18 to 25, are we concerned about that to. Maybe we should just randomly chose people no matter their age or sex. It was set up to put healthy strong men into battle in a time when that was very important. Women (in their prime child bearing years) were left home to raise children, or if the majority of men were killed at war the women could still reproduce and repopulate. This ranks up there with girls being able to become boy scouts, and boys becoming girl scouts. Do people really have nothing better to do? It wasn't saying people couldn't join the military, and its been over 40yrs since anyone has been drafted. Who brought this lawsuit in the first place? Don't they have better things they could be doing?

I come from a military family, father in Navy WW!, brother in Navy in WWII, sister's husband in Air Force in WWII, Korea,& Vietnam. plus 4 cousins in army in Desert Storm. NONE were drafted. They all volunteered to serve their country. And yes, they ALL were in war zones.

I think I'm too old to be drafted, at least in the beginning.
And I'm sure there will be certain rules like "no pregnant chicks can serve," or something.
You know how so many people ran off to Canada, or became students to avoid the draft for Vietnam, exploited loopholes? Ohhhhh, yeaaaaah.
