From CBSLA/CBS News:

The House voted Thursday to pass a compromise bill on border security hours after the Senate overwhelmingly approved it, averting a second shutdown in two months. The White House said President Donald Trump will sign the bill and declare a national emergency to bolster border security beyond the funding provided in the bill.

After the signing, Pelosi addressed the crowd of reporters and politicians on Capitol Hill.

“Happy Valentine’s Day. We saluted our victory – or the victory for the American people – earlier with chocolate. Chocolate from California, I call it the champagne of chocolate. So again, I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. You should go home now to your loved ones,” she said.

Those standing behind the speaker immediately reacted to Pelosi’s comment, including California Rep. Pete Aguilar who laughed and said “Thanksgiving?”

Strange. I imagine misspeaking happens with everyone, young and old. I wouldnt worry about one offs, only about trends in behavior.

She does have a lengthy history of
misspeaking.

Undermedicated? Overmedicated? Alcohol abuse?
Illegal drug use?

Dementia? Alzheimers?

And then, her and POTUS are both at an age where senility is not out of the question. Hopefully, she will refrain from continuing on in politics if it is the case, instead of pretending to know what she is doing, like other people.

As a Correction Officer for 13 yrs in a county jail in NY I can honestly say i have had some
experience with Alcoholism and Drug Abuse and over medicating. I had seen Nancy Pelosi on
the TV and i commented that she seemed out of sorts. Either she is taking medications or
drinking alcohol for one reason or another because her demeanor tells me there is something
wrong. The question is: Does whatever she is taking interfere with the performance of her duties
and if so, to what extent? Maybe these politicians should be randomly selected to be tested for
drugs and alcohol like the rest of the world is at the workplace!!!!

Not asking disrespectfully. but how much experience do you have with plain old senility or dementia? Might symptoms be kind of similar? Alot of these officials are well beyond their golden years, if you know what Im saying. Many are even beyond, well beyond, typical retirement age.

actually, no such distinction exists in the 25th amendment

Section 3 and (especially) Section 4 are long and complicated by constitutional standards. Nevertheless, they leave a number of issues unsettled—most significantly, what counts as presidential “inability.” At the Constitutional Convention in 1787, delegate John Dickinson asked, “What is the extent of the term ‘disability’” in the proposed presidential succession clause, “and who is to be the judge of it?” No response is recorded. By giving the President, Vice President, and Congress important and distinct roles, the Framers of the Twenty-Fifth Amendment went a long way toward answering the second part of Dickinson’s question, rather than try to resolve the first part.

Misspeaking? Lets talk about some "misspeaking".

Five other times Donald Trump ‘misspoke’

"Donald Trump is claiming that a slip of the tongue was to blame for his controversial denial of Russian interference in the 2016 US election - and he certainly has a history of muddling his words".

"The US president has faced a barrage of criticism over his comments following a summit with Russian president Vladimir Putin in Helsinki on Monday but insisted yesterday that he had “misspoken".

"Reading from a script, Trump explained: “The sentence should have been, ‘I don’t see any reason why I wouldn’t, or why it wouldn’t be Russia [interfering],’” instead of “why it would”, Trump said. “So you can put that in,” he added.

Here are five other examples of the US leader’s gift of the gab".

24 hours later, Trump claims he misspoke in Helsinki, meant to say Russia did have reason to meddle in election

"President Donald Trump attempted on Tuesday to clarify his widely criticized comments in Helsinki, saying that he had misspoken when he said a day earlier that he did not see why Russia would have meddled in the election. Trump said Tuesday he meant to say he did not see any reason why it wouldn't have been Russia that interfered".

A Besieged Trump Says He Misspoke on Russian Election Meddling

"WASHINGTON — Under unrelenting pressure from congressional Republicans, his own advisers and his allies on Fox News, President Trump abruptly reversed course on Tuesday and claimed he had misspoken during a news conference with President Vladimir V. Putin about whether Russia tried to influence the 2016 presidential election".

http://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/17/world/europe/trump-putin-summit.html

Trump's mental health and why people are discussing it

"The question has been raised again by the release of a new book by New York journalist Michael Wolff, which chronicles the first year of the Trump White House.

The book - the accuracy of which has been disputed by the White House and queried by others - paints the president as impatient and unable to focus, prone to rambling and repeating himself".

When you get right down to it, the right hasn't a leg to stand on when trying to talk about the left. You can talk about Pelosi all you want. But what you say will ring hollow. Kettle, meet black.

Not as long as Trump is in office. As long as he is there, the more ammunition he is going to hand to the left. Simply because he refuses to listen to anyone. He can't stop lying. He can't stop putting his foot in his mouth on an almost daily basis. He gives no thought before he speaks. If he had, he wouldn't have made such a fool of himself when he declared on nationwide TV that "HE" would take the blame for the Gov shutdown. He said that "HE" would make Mexico pay for his wall.

Now he is trying to crawl into our pockets for that. Yes, you can talk about Pelosi if you want. But to the thinking person that knows all the above and more, Pelosi is a breath of fresh air. Left or right.

At least she does seem to know what the will of the people is. And it's not a wall.

#Pelosi Suffers #Meltdown While Bashing #Trump at US-Mexico Border

The senior Democrat can be seen fumbling for words and stuttering her way through the address that was designed to undermine President Trump’s push for a wall along the United States Southern Border.

A video of the speech shows Pelosi struggling to speak coherently during a border press conference in Laredo, Texas on Saturday.

Can someone please explain to this old Englishman why the US has an 'emergency' that requires them to build a wall at the border with another country? Over here, I think very few people like the Trump, perhaps because he has been proved to be dishonest so many times, but also perhaps of his treatment of women. I guess we're more sensitive here about that sort of thing! laugh

Here is a place to start. 35 pages so far that cover that and a whole lot more.

http://mingle2.com/topic/566410?page=1

Here in the USA, about 71% of the country doesn't go along with Trump. Only about 31% do. It seems they are mostly way, way, far right.

Check out the thread and learn more.

Here is a link to the first thread. You can't post on it because it's locked. But you can read it.

In US History, and Im sure we are not the only ones, politicians have often used the fear of 'outsiders' and 'others' to drum up support. Immigrants were going to take away jobs and precious resources before slavery. And then freed slaves were also going to take away jobs and precious resources. Government assistance for the impoverished is taking away resources for more 'deserving' and hard working citizens ... et cetera.

When the bottom line is money, it is easy to drum up 'emergencies'.
