How would you describe it?
Is it a true opposite of love? Is it ever a justified emotion to feel for a person or a group of people? why or why not? I think hate is to dislike, what love is to like. I think it is the highest extreme of a negative emotion that you can feel about a thing or person. I also think it is a somewhat conditioned response, like love. We learn to label it based only on a momentary emotional reaction that we then either decide to constantly reinforce, or deconstruct. I do think hate is an opposite of love, but not the only opposite. I think to not feel at all, apathy, is also an opposite of love. I don't think hate is justified, though I think it is understandable, however slight that difference may be. I really feel hate does just as much damage to the one hating as it does whatever or whomever they hate. It is, to me, like asking if suicide is justified. Justified could never be the right word. But I understand the destructive ends that pain can lead to. |

Hate is more destructive to the person who feels it. It can easily be ignored by the other party.

Destructive to both yes,
But not always able to be ignored. Such as if the person acts on their hate & things become physical, or in the case of bullying an insecure person could lead to suicide. Hate should be allowed no room in the world |

Hate..I feel to hate someone or something so intensely that want to cause maximum pain or damage to the object of hatred even if you get hurt in the process. The satisfaction of seeing someone you hate in pain is much greater than the pain you might have caused yourself in the process.
I think even if most people feel hate, they are rational enough not to act on it. The laws, the cost benefit analysis and long term thinking stops them from acting on it. People tend to take out their hatred on things as it is easier, convenient or reminds them of a person or experience. While not justified, it makes sense. To dislike is easy and somewhat normal but to hate someone with passion...has to be a good reason for that. |

I think that anyone with a capacity to love also has the capacity to hate.
I feel that hate is more than an absense of love. Hate requires dedication and commitment just like love. Like love, it can become an obsession. Like love, it resides only within. You can't buy, sell, or demand hate in others. Being a negative state, it reinforces negativity and manifests many times in personal depression. As far as I know, there is never a 'good' reason to hate. Its possible to hate silently but most of those that hate, broadcast it to the people around them looking for some twisted kind of moral support. I hate my X. I hate her for reasons that have little to do with what she did. I don't tell people I hate her, but I do tell them I don't want anything to do with her. I reserve that hate within and I also know that it can change if she stops hurting the people I love. I am not consumed by this hate. I only feel the hate when I learn of the newest thing she did to hurt the ones I love. My hate is not all-consuming. If it were, I would end her. I know that would cause the people I love pain and sadness and I don't do that to people I love. My hope is that she changes, not because I want to love her, because I really don't want to hate her. I really don't hate anyone else and it makes no sense to me to hate an object. When I was younger, before I started removing my delusions, I hated a lot of people and a lot of things. Finding my inner peace ended my deluded hate. |

"I think to not feel at all, apathy, is also an opposite of love."
Apathy or not to feel anything is the sign of a Psychopath! |

I never really give much thought to hate.
Or, to negativity, for that matter. Such things consume energies, that are better used elsewhere. |

The only thing that I hate more than racism is Satan himself.

Hate that isn't acted on but consumes a person is very destructive. All your energy and emotion goes into the hate and you lose how to live and enjoy life. Sometimes you do feel that strong emotion of hate but continue to live your life despite that feeling. In a few instances, that feeling stays with you forever although you don't act on it because of the consequences; without the consequences, you would act on that hatred.

It is a thin line between love and hate. I think that was a movie with Martin Lawrence.
Mankind will always express hatred on the earth, until all is reconstructed by the Creator. |

How would you describe it?
In hindsight, as close to the relevant event as possible, to someone I could effectively communicate with. Otherwise it would just be mentally and emotionally masturbating through creative writing/speaking. Is it a true opposite of love?
No. Is it ever a justified emotion to feel for a person or a group of people? why or why not?
It's not really an emotion. So "is it ever justified to feel hatred for a person or a group of people?" Yes. Feeling hatred is always justified. Otherwise it wouldn't be felt. It's not always rationally justified by a universally understood and accepted reason. hate does just as much damage to the one hating as it does whatever or whomever they hate
Only if they wallow in it and can't move on. Which is true for pretty much anything, any feeling or emotion. |

that why i love here in forum's i learn alot... .. but we are a human being either we like it or not sometimes we felt hate in several ways...

The hate on this earth could be dramatically reduced by enabling people to create their own thin air credit, so they can borrow it from themselves, and make the payments to themselves, just like the banksters do. That would solve the seigniorage problem most of us are forced to labor under.

I have felt what I think was hate.
Only a couple of times in my life, I felt hate for people who consistently hurt someone I love. I found that once that person stopped hurting my family, the hate was replaced with sympathy. I truly felt sorry for those people because I think they are so miserable themselves that they find it necessary to hurt others. |

I truly felt sorry for those people because I think they are so miserable themselves that they find it necessary to hurt others. There are people that are so miserable they try to spread it around so they can feel better about being miserable. These are the people that 'love' hearing the terrible news and will try to insert negativity into other's realationships that they feel is better than theirs. I call them Potstirers. They 'must' stir the pot to keep people in more turmoil than them so they feel better about their own turmoil. Then you have people that have been hurt so bad, they Hate the World or Hate Life itself. These people thrive on that hatred. When they see others that display positive stuff they will try to make them share their hate. |
