I see your point. The chart seems obscure May be you have the right figures? |

I'm not sure about, Newton, and the Bible. NATO doesn't have anything to do with brexit I think. Brexit is more to do with not giving over power to a European Parliament, and paying them taxes to bail out other countries, such as Greece, who are notorious for not paying their own. If Greece gets and indeed has got, away with it, then it just causes a domino effect of other countries doing the same, like Italy. We were obviously never in Europe as much as other countries anyway, as we never adopted the Euro.
Going back to Trump, this wall business seems highly symbolic and in tune with his deep fascist, racist, self centered, egotistical, morals. |

NATO nations increased their expenditure by 22 billion in 2017 - date of chart
by 46 billion in 2018 and expected to further increase in 2019 All since Trump asked NATO leaders to meet the 2% GDP quota - since Day One. If one looks at the earlier chart, Germany with her leading economy was contributing 1.2%. Merkel will now meet her share. |

"NATO has raised their spending by 100 billion" - President, State of Union Address
Statista has an interesting chart of military spending as percent of GDP, the only ones outspending us are Russia and Saudi Arabia, but nobody tell Trump. He would probably hate to be 'losing' to Saudi Arabia, but most sane folks dont want Saudi Arabia's political climate and concerns. Correction: Saudi Arabia is spending 10% of their GDP, or 10% of 800 Billion A major part goes to buy hardware from US and maintenance About a 100 Billion of this goes to Pakistan But you are right, "most folks don't want Saudi Arabia's political climate and concerns". (The Royal family has a job managing their religious conservatives) --xx-- The President said he may draw Putin and Xi to the negotiating table as far as nuclear missiles go. Depends on what sort of future these leaders see. |
