Ummm... one of those books you're asking about is The Bible. There are other books very similar to this one. So yes, everything you pointed out and questioned can be supported in written text. Comparing Gods to fictional characters is HARDLY a suitable comparison. May I suggest you do more research? Especially about prophets or other "religious" people and what they practice and believe, and WHY.
