Topic: How Do You feel right now? - part 12 | |
---|---|
Oooo... excited and hopeful for Galaxy And totally ecstatic!!!... I got my license! Well the learners permit so I can practice before taking the driving test. Already practiced a tiny bit and it was like riding a bike. Tomorrow I will have my full driving privileges back. Feeling grateful and blessed! Huh? You haven't got a driver's license? What happened since you mention "back"? |

What happened since you mention "back"? Not til now, it's been 14 yrs. I was stupid and irresponsible so lost it. Procrastination and probably self punishment kept me from taking the steps to get it back 13 years ago. During the last year I've put to rest a lot of stuff that was buried deep and was able to move forward. I earned the privilege to drive again and today was truly a blessing. |

I cannot even begin to imagine life without a license and car, phew... With poor public transport in this remote area I wouldn't be able to get anywhere no more, not even a cheaper supermarket, hihi. Hope you get your license soon! (I gather this was the theoretic part). |

Congrats! I cannot even begin to imagine life without a license and car, phew... With poor public transport in this remote area I wouldn't be able to get anywhere no more, not even a cheaper supermarket, hihi. Hope you get your license soon! (I gather this was the theoretic part). Thanks Crystal. Down here in the Florida Keys I lived a half mile from the grocery store and my work place had employee busing. Public transportation was really good too if you had to go far. It became really easy to procrastinate and with all the crazy drivers down here I didn't really miss driving. It wasn't until I started seasonal work and travel that I felt the full effect of not having a license. Being stuck on top of a mountain totally dependent on staff trips to go anywhere, including the store, was torturous, lol. I made my goal for this past summer to take care of the business that needed to be taken care of so that I could get my license by the end of the summer... Feels great to have accomplished my goal. |

Yes, a license means freedom. Had I lived in a city it would be different. Like Amsterdam, you don't need a car there. Subway, trains, buses, trams.
But here... If my car is at the garage for MOT and the driveway is empty I feel kind of crippled. Not that I need the car daily, far from, but just the thought I cannot go or leave if there's need or emergency... Definitely freedom!! Like you say, being stuck on a mountain... I've had that back in the day in Australia, as I hadn't a license yet then. The only good thing about that was that I couldn't spend my money on anything except for food in the local store, hahaha. So when I left, I had quite a lot saved up, hihi. |

I should have calculated in a car too when I worked on the Island. Had everything I needed there, but spent too much money spoiling myself, haha.
That's okay, the car will be my next goal Definitely freedom... I took it for granted before and messed up. I won't do that again, I'm grateful now for that freedom and the privilege of being able to drive. |

Stressed out.
This entire week has been a mess so far. Now work wants me start my regular shifts today, 5 days ahead of schedule. However, I haven't had time to get all the preparations made, AND I'm running low on cash because I originally didn't know I was only going to have 2 shifts for 2 of the first 4 weeks. Plus I have car dealers I need to respond to, and I have an apartment move to get ready for. All these changes and uncertainty are really beginning to wear on me. Heck, I only have 40 minutes before leaving for work. Plus I have to get cash off my card, and then wait 2 hours for a bus. And that's just getting to work today. |

Estes Park, Colorado here I come! I've got 2 jobs for sure, waiting to hear about the 3rd(the one I really want), and a random contact at a sports bar with a guy who owns several companies, oil/gas investors which may have openings, or create a spot for me. |
