Only one date. I don't like the smoking part.

My boss once took me to his favorite fishing spot.
We planned the event, rearranged our schedules to accomodate the date.
We were alone, we had drinks and talked.
We had fun.
Since he picked me up at my house and I rode up there with him, he also dropped me off and bid me farewell as I did him.

Technically, we went on a date.
It wasn't a romantic date but we did learn intimate things about each other that reinforced our friendship.

Would I "date" you?
Sure.
You might be fun at a river party or tailgating.
Might even go camping with ya.
Would I romatically date you?
No, I don't swing that way.
I'm a lesbian, I prefer women.

Try not to value dating as only romantic opportunities.
If you are dating a woman and romance develops that is one thing.
You can also date a woman and friendship develops.
Some friendships develop into romance but some romance never develops into friendship.
Try examining your reason for dating and ask yourself what it is you are looking for honestly, then go get it.
