the "free love" era in the sixties started it all, not the internet... telling people lies and fairytales, telling people the truth that nobody knows if there's a god or not is a bad thing...the only place god has in schools is letting kids make their own decisions, not cramming it down their throats..

Its not so much social media it is what is on the TV media and that is where a lot of behaviour altering concepts come from.
A lot of programmes are merely social engineering disguised as entertainment.
Sport is the only thing left to watch but even that is socially engineered to a point in this decade compared to the 00s.

Media is entertainment, do we really need constant entertainment?

People nowdays sem to get "bored" if they have no internet..
There's reading...which I know is a foreign concept tommost people...but, i have been a bookaholic since I was a kid..
Give me a good non-fiction book to get lost in, I'm good...

Also, there *are* good things on TV...not "commercial" things...(I haven't watched anything that was touted as the "gotta watch!!" show since probably NYPD Blue..I had a crush on Jimmy Smits)...

I watch documentaries, CSPAN (on the weekends they have a TON of cool ), historical and scientific things....as well as being a HUGE fan of the old B & W movies...from the 1930's to about the early 1960's..

I do not "stream", or watch stuff online...I have a regular TV and DirecTV.

I spend most of my days doing stuff that doesn't involve entertainment.
I can't work anymore but I am fairly busy as my health that day allows.
Sometimes I am content just sitting there thinking.
I have a very vivid imagination.

I use the internet for my entertainment.
I can watch what I want to watch when I want to watch it without commercials and advertisements.
If I wanted to see a commercial, I have to search for them.
I used to have a bunch of bookmarks for news videos and had a website that lists the websites of all major newspapers around the world.
I don't look at them anymore either.
Just not interested in opinionated news anymore.
As for music, I have a hellava library now. What I don't have I can usually find on youtube.
My eyes are not so good anymore.
I love reading but its harder for me now.
I have audio books and story podcasts I play.
What I don't have, I can usually find online or at youtube.
Did you know youtube has videos of books being read?
Some of the videos are 8 or 10 hours long.

I prefer the speculative fiction of scifi, fantasy and horror radio shows.

I don't agree with you.Knife can be used to peel fruit and knife can also be used to kill people.Knife is not good or bad,it all depends on to be used by whom.In case the internet doesn't exist,there are still many people having sex before marriage.
