This came to mind, but in my case it's actually wanting things and expectations. I will always have realistic hope that all things will be made new and that every ill effect of this awkward and irksome beginning will be nullified.
Situations and things can add to happiness, but if contentment and happiness are dependent upon external things, one will often be frustrated and disappointed.

It's also the idea behind the commandment to not covet.
