Did you know farmed salmon has color added to it?
I just found out today. Naturally, it is a light grey. I suspect they try to imitate the naturally colored wild-caught and/or red sockeye salmon. "Color added" on a label for salmon and salmon products means that the salmon were given a feed which contains a pigment called astaxanthin. When the feed is digested, the astaxanthin is absorbed into the fish's flesh giving the fillets or steaks a reddish or 'salmon' color." https://articles.extension.org/pages/67169/what-does-color-added-mean-on-a-label-for-salmon-at-the-grocery-store |

I only buy the fresh wild-caught sockeye salmon, in season. You might like it. Much more, and better, flavor.
It's about $25/lb. So I buy it once a year. I don't buy, or order, regular salmon. |

Reading about salmon, it is related to trout - besides being a fish. LOL

Did you know farmed salmon has color added to it?
Yes. Did you know most commercially available roses have had their scents bred out and are perfumed, otherwise you are smelling something other than actual "rose?" A rose by any other name could smell sweeter, or not at all, depending on where you get it. |

Thanks for that explanation. |
