Gave up smoking will be 16 years come this next January .. all due to my first grand daughter that was born a preemie and they lived with me at the time.. Dr came out and asked where would she be going home too, I said they live with me. He said do you smoke in the house I said yes.. he said you have a choice smoke outside or give them up her lungs are under developed and can not take the smoke.
I walked outside and lit up... to think about it... Once I had finished the pack I had which did not take long for I was smoking 2-3 packs a day... I laid them down.. Not sure why but had done that more then once and started right back up.. But the day I laid them down I never picked up another, nor have I had any cravings to do so... |

I know a lot of people struggle when it comes to giving up nicotine ., it is highly addictive .. so well done to both of you .. fantastic achievement

TxsGal.... that's fantastic. 
I quit the cigarettes 9 months ago, but became addicted to nicorette lozengers. I gave those up in the middle of June, so technically I've only been nicotine free for 3 months. Going back to my home in the Keys will be a huge trigger... I pretty much chained smoke my last couple months there. Having a healthy alternative and plan to off set the trigger will be a good idea. |

I was always one when I put them down I refused to do the patches ect for I would still be feeding the beast.. {nicotine craving}
Some can put them down cold turkey some it does not work for.. I chewed on plenty of straws and had peppermint candy on hand at all times.. just in case.. When worst came to worst I did yard work nothing like sweating it out telling myself I have a reason and her name is Kaitlynn.. With me I had a higher goal it was the health of my first grand baby.. Which every time I looked into those eyes every night when she was handed to me as I walked in the front door... It made all those cravings go away... |
