Topic: What sport is the most dangerous today? | |
---|---|
I would say for a team sport- football. Any time a 300+ lb man hits a 200 lb man with everything he's got, there's going to be damage eventually. For an individual sport- either skydiving or mountain climbing, esp the type where you scale a mountian using just your hands.. I had my main chute fail once in the army, I said my prayers quickly, and pulled my reserve, and thankfully it opened. It's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden STOP. You know what they say: If at first you don't succeed....... ......maybe skydiving isn't the activity for you . |

Deep Sea fishing is definitely dangerous when you become the victim of a shark!
Auto racing is also up there with the most dangerous along with bungee Jumping and base jumping. Air racing is very dangerous also...many crash and get killed. |

I know it's not a sport, but considering the sheer number of serious neck injuries alone, I'd probably say pro wrestling. Thats a good point, a lot of those guys end up crippled or addicted to pain killers. In addition to the contact, a lot of performance drug issues, dozens of big names have overdosed in the past 5 years, most under 40. It's not a "sport" but it is athletics |

Javalin catching ranks right up there with steeling hubcaps from moving cars on the Interstate! I hate when they slam on the brakes just as I'm getting it loose!!!

Drag Racing on the professional level. The performance capabilities of the dragsters and funny cars are too far ahead of tire technology. The sanctioning bodies do something to slow them down, and a year later they're even faster.

Even though most people don't think it's a sport but pro wrestling is very dangerous. With all the drug use and people dying in the ring it has to ranked in the top 5. There has been a lot of broken necks that ended a lot carrers and lives in wrestling. in football pads have improved hockey as well and any race fan will tell about the crashes drivers have walked away from, not wrestling one mistake in the ring and your dead or parlyzed for life. drugs play apart in the death of many wrestlers wheather they die from an overdose or are addictied to pain killers they are either dead or walking dead.
