Topic: Huge differences between North and South of USA, why? | |
---|---|
By better educated, you mean the ones electing candidates based on abolishing ice and Medicaid for all? I mean the ones who have put in time and financial investment to learn things like math, language, reading, writing, science, history, civics ... et cetera. again, back to only how it 'seems' it 'seems' northerners try to appear educated in lieu of manners, and southerners try to appear mannerable in lieu of education. I think you make good points! My friends from the North has higher education. One has a PhD. I do find men with higher education, less acceptable to foolishness. To me that is somewhat refreshing! they both have their appeal, I personally appreciate an educated person. I also appreciate a person with manners. |

In the interest of avoiding another interesting topic being stopped for personal attacks, Id love to reiterate my agreement with others assessment regarding north verse south.
I think climate has a significant impact on certain perceived differences. I think warmer climates do alot to encourage warmer demeanors just as cold climates encourage colder ones. I also believe regional and historical pride and identity play a role, much like cali has that regional 'cali girl' type reputation it perpetuates. I believe bible belt and confederate regions perpetuate the image of their superiority and the northern regions perpetuate their image of progress and 'moving forward' ... so to speak. |

You just proved that I was correct when I said it must be statues. Like I said before, it's blacks acting like these statues are keeping them from getting jobs, an education, and home loans. The average person in the south rarely thinks about the civil war. Yes we have monuments. A lot of time and money has been spent on them. Take for instance the carving on stone mtn. It's a historic piece of art that isn't hurting anyone but it's a focus of blacks at the moment. It's not superiority. It's just not catering to one group of people. If they don't like it, don't go there. |

If they don't like it, don't go there. Confederate States of America, also called Confederacy, in the American Civil War, the government of 11 Southern states that seceded from the Union in 1860–61, carrying on all the affairs of a separate government and conducting a major war until defeated in the spring of 1865. Convinced that their way of life, based on slavery, was irretrievably threatened by the election of Pres. Abraham Lincoln (November 1860), the seven states of the Deep South (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Texas) seceded from the Union during the following months. When the war began with the firing on Fort Sumter (April 12, 1861), they were joined by four states of the upper South (Arkansas, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia). American Civil War: North Carolina history by brittanica.com, not 'blacks' just FYI nothing in britannica or my posts mentioning statues ... is my point proven about southern appearances and northern education, I wonder ... |

Would you like for me to explain to you why buying a home is better than renting? Because the civil war is over. It's time to move on. Be progressive.

Before blacks started going crazy wanting to change history, the thing people talked about most at stone mtn was the laser show. The water park isn't bad either. We aren't uneducated because we won't spend a bunch of tax $$ to remove a carving to appease one group of people.

Would you like for me to explain to you why buying a home is better than renting? Because the civil war is over. It's time to move on. Be progressive. Actually there are millionaires who buy and sell property who argue the merits of buying and renting, so you do not have the monopoly on 'explaining' anything to me that I cannot and have not researched on my own. not to mention, that is not the topic of the thread. its time to stay on focus and keep up with the subject at hand. |

How much is your rent every month? This is coming from an uneducated southerner. The home I live in is paid for. My estimated tax bill is $841.89.
I've read a lot of those articles. It's b.s. |

again, back to only how it 'seems' it 'seems' northerners try to appear educated in lieu of manners, and southerners try to appear mannerable in lieu of education. How it seems is correct. If northerners were really educated about science, then they would know that climate change isn't 100% man-made. If southerners had real manners, then they wouldn't want to honor the 19th-Century attempt to keep black Americans enslaved. Even white Americans can see that it is wrong to do so. |

I think keeping up appearances is a past time all over the good old USA

I think keeping up appearances is a past time all over the good old USA Indeed it is. Instead of northerners or southerners, how about those westerners? |

We aren't focused on the civil war and trying to live in the past. We just aren't going to rewrite history. |

If they don't like it, don't go there. It has everything to do with it when someone says we want things to stay the same while the north is focused on education. The South is focused on education and progression also. The "news" shows arguments over statues and carvings like the one at stone mtn. It wouldn't be an issue if blacks focused on education and progression, instead of statues, carvungs, and street signs. I have a friend who commutes 4 hours to work. He flies for delta and is stationed out of NY. He continues to live here in Ga. He use to work for nasa. He can order food and alcohol in any language. The South isn't stuck m a version of "the help". It might appear that way from all the fuss about a statue. But the ones who feel the can't succeed because of a statue don't represent the majority. It just gets news because it's so stupid. |

America is a melting pot sweety ..you will find all races and nationalities in the North and South yet the way of life is the topic. As usual you are projecting your racist views in a place it does not belong. Have a great colorful day East and remember region not race. You have never even left Georgia or lived in the North. Stop it.
|
|
|
|
It's not whites focused on the carvings and statues. The point is the news isn't focused on everyone in this melting pot. It's not showing people at school or working. The news is focused on vandalism of statues, people complaining about the carvings, and protestors. I'm explaining why the south isn't like it appears. I know that's hard for you to understand.

So northerners have no manners and southerners lack education.. and I see where another poster labels southerners as " red necks" No.. no bigotry going on here.. none at all.......... well, thank God we have the west because it would appear both the north and south... suck I'm moving to the Mason / Dixon line.. right on the line.. that way I don't suck. |

The South is looked at as having good manners. This might be true in small towns. It's not the case in the concrete jungle. A man was killed today while driving on Martian Luther king Blvd. Nobody know why but he probably cut someone off. It isn't unusually for people to kill someone over a parking spot here. Things are definitely changing in the south. Not all of it is for the best.
