Military Assessions Vital to the National Interest.
Allows the military to recruit non-citizens with special skills. While serving in military , can earn citizenship to US. Created in 2008 by Secretary of defense. The program was widely seen as a success, so it was a surprise to many when the Pentagon announced in 2014 that the program has been suspended. The status of the program under Trump administration is now under review, and maybe canceled. |

We hired one in Fl. he was from Afghanistan and worked side by side with American troops in the field as a translator. He was a good guy, low key and happy to be a American
Like Moe said, these people earned their keep |

In the scope of what Trump is trying to accomplish I can see how the program might have backlash.
The Naturalization process is in place for a reason and it works for that purpose. Naturalization should not be a reward or a gift but I see no problem with foreigners being sponsored by the agency they volunteer to assist as long as they complete the naturalization process. |

Recruitment goals?
Peacetime military exists to maintain a state of readiness to do battle. Wartime military exists to do battle. While it may seem like a big business it is a military force. Its populated as per its needs to perform its function. When I joined the Navy I joined as an Aviation Structural Mechanic. While I was in Boot Camp, they told me the billet was over-manned and offered me to terminate my contract. The also offered me a multitude of other billets they needed manned, I chose Construction Mechanic with the Navy Seabees. At the end of my enlistment I extended to 7 years active. At the end of the 7 years, my reenlistment bonus was nil because Construction mechanics were overmanned. I could choose to reenlist but for very little bonus. Shortly after I got out, Seabee bases were closed with only a few remaining active. At that time, Seabees I knew that were still active were given a choice to end their contract or change their billet. Now, as far as I know (I haven't kept up with it) there are two main Seabee bases and one Amphib Base. The military needs changed and so did the manning strategies. There are very few billets requiring non-citizenship to man. Even those few billets can be manned by educated citizens. Most billets requiring foreign talents also require higher than average security clearances. Usually pertaining to infiltration and information dissemination. These billets are not as populated as your typical foot soldier, they are specialized and that specialization leads to fast fill in those billets. |

The former director of the Space Program at NASA was a former high ranking Nazi official who designed the V2 rocket that killed millions. We recruited and or protected some of the most vicious war criminals because we saw a use for them. We also protected Klaus Barbie who worked with our military and was the one who caught Che Guerra for us. Barbie also known as the butcher of Lyon. We also protected Mangele and Eichmann. Our Government went into panic mode when Israel captured Eichmann alive because of what he could have revealed about our support.
