Country Days
I remember country summer days where front doors were intentionally left unlocked and windows were opened as wide as the dusty road leading to our home was long Somehow life felt as if there were no such thing as a stranger or a bad day and that the joys of fresh air was in the games we played Outside under the sun's watchful eye we laughed played and discovered just how special each minute could be as fought the night with every ounce of childhood And when we lost the fight we'd simply gazed upon the night's starry sky and wish for tomorrow for a longer summer with more laughter as the innocence of happiness was all we knew |
