Why is it when people are miserable and something really bad happens they blame God. But when things are good in their life he is not even given a thought!!!

Oh, I think the better question is...why when something good happens do people give praise and salutations to god, but when something tragic occurs they find no god, in sight?

humans take advantage of good things and we like to dwell on the bad.

Tragic istn alwasys a bad thing and i find God in things that i feel are bad at the time. I later realize how they could have been much worse..

Well in my case I would say not true. I have had many tradgedies in my life...and not once do I or have I ever blamed God. And yes I think in general I thank him everyday....for everyday... So I would have to say yes yes when tradgedy happens that God is there....examples upon request....

I am not Christian, and have never felt a desire to follow that faith, but I also wonder....please insert any deity here...why they are held separate to us...when my understanding is it is an intimate relationship...a closeness.

That was exactly my point.....people are the ones that do the bad and good and the consequences are theres. But I know for me that before I do anything I ask myself WWJD and the reason for that is it gives me a guideline for how to act. Now because I am human this is not always the case. I get angry, I make wrong choices but at least with his guidance I will make more right then wrong. Also when I do a wrong...I know it instantly as a Christian. And I agree with you I have a relationship with my Lord and Savior not a religion.

In the christian realm anyway,. There is a rumor going around that'God is in control'. Simply not true, but a very popular and disalusioning concept.

"It must have been Gods will". How many times have you heard that one. .....Bullcrap. God can turn things around if you let Him and use those hurts and mistakes to strengthen you but God is not in control. Otherwise He's one sadistic old bastard.
God made it, gave it to us,Satan tricked us (lied) out of it, now it's his. Satan is the 'king of this world' and God has to funnel his will through us as willing participants to get anything done through prayer and action. The world is not Gods, that's why it must be destroyed ultimately, He's just waiting only save as many as he can.

It's called "faith without actions is dead". That's why the church is fat and lazy these days. Build a 5 billion dollar cathedral while homeless people freeze to death.
