Topic: can you describe God without sounding delusional | |
---|---|
That is absurd thinking... we can make everything possible... or impossible...
Of course there are limitations governed by "universal law"... You just displayed the ability to use your intelligence to decide that what you know defines what you think... and understanding limitation does not nullify the fact that there are choices... |
|
|
|
And the fact that man has placed himself into any position with the successive choices made further supports the fact that he made the choices...

bunches said: First off, to be able to choose IS free will... then choose to fly to the moon without the aid of technology ..is gravity holding your back? but don't you have Free Will ..which means you are limited in the choices you can make ..you are under the jurisdictions of the laws of Physics ..if you hade Free Will the Laws of Physics wouldn't apply to you ..only Gods have Free Will human and the other species only get to choose from a limited set of options Waitaminute .... this isn't fair. Just yesterday I was told I wasn't allowed to talk about science or concepts ... Funches, you have indeed set this 'discussion' up exactly as you want it ... |

Free will does not mean omnipotence. Free will does not mean that you can make any choice, it means you can make any choice which is available. If you fall off a cliff, probably your only choices are to scream or to pray, but you have the ability to choose one of the two. If you are falling, you cannot choose to turn into a bird or to change the law of gravity so that you never hit the ground. Those options don't imply "free will", they imply omnipotence or at the least magic. if a God fell off a cliff what would happen ..if a God ran into a tree what would happen ..but if a human did those same things there would be consequences ..which means a God can do as it please with any consequences ..Free Will is omnipotence the laws of physics doesn't apply to Gods |

Do not feel the need to disprove the common notion of God to me. If God fell off of a cliff... God has...and "died" with the man... just as "lived" with the man... has been the most wealthy of humans, and the poorest... the kindest, and the most violent... God lives through us... what did you feed God this morning? He has a caffeine buzz from me right now... and we are about to go do some woodworking... what will you share with God today? >>>>>>> |

What if a rich man get's sick? He has more options than the poor man, simply because he has more money. That doesn't imply that he is any closer to being omnipotent than the poor man. As long as you have a choice, you have free will and there is always a choice. Therefore, free will is implicit in existance. You don't have to be omnipotent to make choices, but omnipotence would give you quite a few more actions to choose from. |

Waitaminute .... this isn't fair. Just yesterday I was told I wasn't allowed to talk about science or concepts ... Funches, you have indeed set this 'discussion' up exactly as you want it ... exactly as I want it????..come on you're already delusional don't get paranoid too the explanation is simple...the religious like to discuss scientific concepts to explain everything except when it comes to the existence of God.... then all you hear is faith |

God has...and "died" with the man... sorry but Death doesn't apply to a God ..just say that the man died |

funches:
ArtGurl, should she choose, by exercising her free will, to continue a discussion with you... it would be a wise choice on your behalf to not assume that you know what she thinks or believes... trust me... she made a valid point yesterday, which you dismissed without complete consideration of her notion... Or any consideration, as far as I could tell... Listening is a beautiful thing... |

Free will is the ability to make the choices that are available to you. now explain why if you have Free Will that you have to make a choice at all |
|

I have no problems with your vision of God... as I have no problems with mine either... and they are not of the same understanding...
You however, seem to be the one who has a problematic understanding of your own vision... I cannot defend your belief system to you, my friend... |

Listening is a beautiful thing... can someone pull out the violins because someone is crying crocodile tears ....I answered her question yesterday with a rational answer that she had no problem with.....she got caught off guard because she didn't realize someone could actually answer it...so please spare me the tears |

she got caught off guard because she didn't realize someone could actually answer it... You are so right, what you said is completely original, I've never heard that before. Seriously, I am impressed. Finally, someone who can answer that question. |

The wheels on the bus go round and round,
round and round, round and round. The wheels on the bus go round and round, all through the town.... This could go on indefinitely and in the final analysis everyone will be in the exact same philosophical place that they started. Only with worn keyboards and tired eyes. Simply because Fuches has as much faith in his belief that there is no higher power called God, as the believers in God have in his existence. For every arguement you throw up, he will counter... In the event he does not have a counter, he will dismiss... This is actually drawing down to a battle of wills. Frankly, a staring contest would be more exciting to watch... So, this is where I step backwards, out the door I came in... |
