Sifting through old memories
Piled high in the closet Clumsey fingers stumble upon that perfect summer day There you were perched atop the machine you slaved over Even squinting in the muggy July sun The pride was obvious You wore a casual smile But inside coursed the blood Of a wild beast Unleashed as soon as that flag dropped Pedal mashed to the floor The heat becomes more intense Still you soar past the others As easily as an eagle flies "GO DADDY GO" My cousins scream Oh what a wonderous time that was So full of laughter and innocence Only a child has Sifting through the memories I found reason to smile To laugh and celebrate his memory once again A Dedication to my hero, Dion Kevin Parish the greatest uncle who ever lived |
