I am curious....why pick LDR vs local?

Why would you seek a LDR? It is hard enough in this day and age to keep a healthy relationship with someone you can at least see on a semi-regular basis. Long distance relationships rarely work out...specially if they cross country lines with visa issues etc.

I would say some folks don't like where they're at and want to move to a better place

In my opinion you can become very good friends with someone you meet online, but until you meet up in person you don't really know if it would become something more than friendship. If it were to become an LDR, and with regular meetings in real life, then yes I believe people are willing to take risks to be with the one they love, they don't want to live apart long term. Whether it becomes a happy forever after depends on the two people involved. Welcome to Mingle2 and good luck in your search. |

I figure this is how it would go with me ...
I meet a LDR guy online fall for him ... and as soon as I would do that ... then I would meet the love of my life off line local ... then wtf |

that's no worse than meeting a guy locally and falling for him and then finding the love of your life at the grocery store mysti

LDR can work. My Mingler came to me, because the grass is definitely greener here.
About loyalty? Well that depends on their integrity. It can be very lonely though, you need to speak daily to keep the flame kindled. |

It can be very lonely though, you need to speak daily to keep the flame kindled. We had five years together. Yes we are not together now, but what I am saying is LDR can work. We worked through the visas and he was here working in New Zealand. We had passed the year living together needed for him to apply for residency. Then we broke up. Not everyone would have the issues we had though, which broke us up. |
