I got surprised with some hot-**** party at a
ritzy country club on a birthday in my 40's.

Hated it.
Hated it.
Hate surprises.
So there are all these people there (some I don't even know
as the folks would put on the dog) and I am nodding and
smiling and counting the steps out the door and how soon
can the guest of honor honorably leave.

I see a man sitting alone across the room, so I grab a waiter
and whisper to him, he goes over to the guy and the fellow
looks at me and nods. I had offered some of the birthday Baked
Alaska, as he was all alone..and, in theory, twas MY birthday.

Host was livid! (Daddy!) I said you didn't ask me what I
wanted at all so it made my birthday to give my slice away.
I winked at the guy eating my 'birthday cake' on the way out :-)
