the election of donald j dumbass. that one is top of my list too along with: double standards in judging political 'sides' and politicians/presidents prioritizing things and symbols over human life the switch away from gender and family 'roles' to 'everyone do their own thing' the decrease in reading comprehension skills the increase in lazy thinking the dependency on 'instant' everything The fascination and obsessive dependency on cell phones Grown ups who behave and speak like children the increase in negativity, narcissism, and cybersocial power over peoples lives and livelihoods the push to force the masses into pretending 'Trans' is not an emotional disorder The push to change the English language rules on gender/pronoun association, where gender and sex are synonymous and sex is based in Procreative Anatomy the increased disdain and inhumane/unsympathetic judgment of those in need of public assistance the heightened sensitivity of females toward male advances and comments the heightened power of females to ruin males in the cyber world with mere accusations |

Neither denied, nor confirmed... What still baffles the masses?... What still baffles you? The masses... can't really say and sure many things they do not understand ... Me ... that I still get so angry over certain things ...that are out of my control ... even if I want to change them for the better ... I still flip my lid but thankfully I calm down ... and do not take it out on others ... like I want to ... and especially that don't deserve it ... |

concerning employment "Anything is better than nothing." concerning politics "All politicians are liars/corrupt" And "It can't be any worse." concerning merit "Merit is defined by hard work. The harder you work, the more you get. The more you get, the harder you must have worked." |

Myths are propagated by ignorance and/or delusion.
They can be significant or insignificant. They can be popular or restricted to a few. They can be reasonable and unreasonable. Most everyone "believes" in some type of myth. |

I am baffled by the modern myth believed by many, that lowering taxes on the rich, causes them to want to expand a business or raise pay for their workers...
... in the face of the fact that anyone who's so much as had a paper route, knows that it takes an EXPANDING CUSTOMER BASE to justify such things. So my modern myth is Supply Side Economics. Other longer standing, more social myths: * the idea that many people have, that if they insult someone, and say rude things about them, it will persuade them to change their minds and think better of them; * the myth that the mass media directly controls everyone's opinions (in the face of the fact that the mass media keeps getting this wrong); * the amusing belief that if you lean on your car horn, the damaged vehicle that is blocking traffic six vehicles ahead will hear that, and decide to start working correctly again; * the belief that if you short change your wait staff, the owner of the restaurant will realize instantly that you did that because you think the food was overpriced; * the belief that anyone who looks like you and talks like you can be trusted implicitly; I could go on, but that's enough for now. |

Modern Day Myths... What still baffles you?
Star Trek. They have food replicators, don't use money, have rooms of perfect visceral virtual reality, and instant teleportation. Why the hell are they exploring space in ships, far away from family, and ecopeace? Send out unmanned staggered pods or something and just "beam" to them in succession to get where you're going. Or just send out sensor probes to send back information for the holodeck library. Why threaten a "perfect society based on altruism" or whatever by creating a star fleet and officers which helps perpetuate a tiered, stratified, class society? How can they build tricorders, talking ship computers, fix human beings like machinery (laforge) and almost instantly, yet Data is the first android? Why aren't there just AI or robot flown ships that then beam the people around the universe? Why can't ship computers just fly the damn ship around, preferably cloaked, and then beam up an advisor when necessary or send back information to have a captain telecommute via holodeck? What's with the dumbass prime directive? "Explore space! Find new civilizations and people!...But don't interfere with them, just watch...from concealment...we're space voyeurs!" They used a viewscreen on their bridge, and no one else really looked outside, they didn't stand outside their ship. Even at warp 90% of their time would be just flying around watching a boring *** show on t.v., (oh look, a long light! Oooh, there's another one! Oooh! More stars going by real fast...wait, aren't we supposed to be exploring those?=!") why leave home? The programming would be more varied. Star Wars. Why do they keep building Death Stars? I mean all that time, effort, money, personnel...how many planets were actually destroyed? 1st death star: 1 city then 1 planet in the prequel, then 1 planet in the first film, then death star destroyed. 2nd death star, 0 planets, then death star destroyed. Like 5 planets in the 7th film by a planet made into a death star, used once, then death star planet destroyed. 2 death stars and 1 death planet for 7 planets (1 being their own) and 1 city (full of resources needed to build the death star), but all death stars completely destroyed. The point being to become the ultimate power in the universe and death to the rebels/jedi, none of which was really accomplished except by the massive clone army. Are there no accountants in the Empire to do a simple ROI? "Pardon me, Mr. Vader, uh according to the P&L sheet...maybe less death stars and more clones? And maybe some of that death star R&D goes into stormtrooper armor? It doesn't really help anything...we got our butts kicked by teddy bears with sticks, and a blind guy...with a stick. Maybe some camouflage paint or something? I mean they don't stop laser blasts...at all...it might actually be making things worse since we shoot at people without armor (and mostly miss) otherwise many times they're just winged. But one shot anywhere on our armor and we seem to die...Plus they're just big shiny white targets in that stuff. And did you know the helmets don't really do anything but filter smoke? Good thing our galaxy spanning culture developed laser guns and faster than light travel, bionic hands, magic medical tanks and robots, and the force, but not mustard gas...right?" "I'm just saying, our ultimate goal is to conquer and control planets, yeah? Completely destroying them seems counter intuitive... So maybe a ton more inherently loyal and effective troops would be ideal as opposed to creating billions of martyrs by just completely annihilating planets we want to rule, or mobilizing expensive clones wearing armor that makes them less effective and at greater risk? Please stop choking me. gack." Zombies. Why should they be feared anymore? Before Romero they were unkillable. They were animated by magic or voodoo or something. Cut off an arm, the arm comes after you. Chop them up into little pieces, pieces wiggle back to each other to reform zombie. Now it's "to survive zombie apocalypse. Step 1: Find a long thick stick. Step 2: Sharpen the end to a point. Step 3: Take out zombie at knees. Step 4: While it's on the ground, poke in head with sharp point, or use spear as club to bash in head." Based on the current movies and shows like The Walking Dead it seems it's "Step 1: Panic. Step 2: be melodramatic and stupid, overact. Step 4: figure out the least effective means of survival. Step 5: find people to fight over it. Step 6: Be melodramatic, stupid, and a dck, that creates luck." |
