Topic: why is this?? | |

Deaths from the two substances. There are hundreds of alcohol overdose deaths each year, yet there has never been a marijuana overdose death in history. The consumption of alcohol is also the direct cause of tens of thousands of deaths in the U.S. each year.
There has never been a documented case of lung cancer in a marijuana-only smoker, and recent studies find that marijuana use is not associated with any type of cancer. The same cannot be said for alcohol, which has been found to contribute to a variety of long-term negative health effects, including cancers and cirrhosis of the liver. Studies find alcohol use contributes to the likelihood of domestic violence and sexual assault and marijuana use does not. Alcohol use is highly associated with violent crime, whereas marijuana use is not. but yet it is still considered bad for u and for others, for the body brain, the economy!!?? why?? |

I agree with you I belive the only reason it is not legal, is the goverment hasn't figured out a way to tax it.Don't worry.I'm sure they are working on a way to profit from it.Then it will be legal.Me my self,Have found life Is the best high.

Why is alcohol legal while marijuana is not? Because we tried making alcohol illegal and it created one of the hottest black markets in United States history. We can't put that genie back in its bottle, but it helps to explain why Congress is reluctant to legalize marijuana. Just suppose it turned out to be a bad idea. Sure, it wouldn't be as bad as legal alcohol, but they'd rather just stick to the safe status quo.

There is no way to tax it. It's a plant that grows and needs very little processing to go from seed to smokable product. Basically if they levied the same taxes that they do on something like cigs people would find it easier to grow their own. What, do you think hydroponic equipment companies are being supported by people using HID lighting (and spending hundreds on electricity) to grow cabbages? The bottom line is that if you stop the prohibition of it, the people making money from it won't be gang bangers and hardcore dealers who use the proceeds to buy weapons. Look at what the prohibition of alcohol led to. Actually, if you want to take a look at the history of MJ laws, there's strong evidence to show that it was illegalized as a way to prosecute mexicans in america. Some also blame timber companies who didn't want competition from hemp (which is actually a different sub species and has almost no THC and can't get you high). It remains illegal cause it's big business. More jobs for cops, courts, jail personnel etc. |

The only people that want marijuana to be legal are smokers. It's illegal becuase more money can be made when it's illegal.
They did try to ban alcohol, but as you can see it didn't work out. ciggerette companies have enough money to keep it legal. It all comes down to the money. |
