Feralcatlady writes: .......But what makes me want to prove Biblical scripture is just like another poster said. That the Bible is folklore with a lil bit of truth......That to me is bogus. Now I understand what your saying about prophecy and in this particular thread I can not prove as prophecy because it's history....But there is accounts of Jesus coming long before he came....and other prophecy that I will recite on a need basis. But I also understand where you coming from with wanting proof....but also that proof can be other then prophecy such as historical, etc. Lets discuss any accounts of Jesus's coming written about long before he came..an alleged "prophecy" that people claim was fullfilled. Okay so lets assume that this scripture was written before Jesus came Is this correct? If it was not actually written before Jesus came it could not be called "prophecy" correct? I am not familiar with the time lines of when scripture was supposed to have been written, but I am going to assume that the account of the coming of a savior was written before Jesus came. Now suppose the Church wanted to invent that prophesied savior that had been written about in previous scripture. They have all the information they need do they not? So all they have to do is write a later account of that having happened according to the prophecy. So they took a historical time period, and actual people they knew of, and they wove a tale within those historical events after the fact. In order to attract followers of Mithra and other pagan gods they plagiarized that myth and built it around a real person who lived during that time that may or may not have been easy to trace. Therefore I assert that the entire new testament is a false account of a fictional character invented by Roman aristocrats. It is not a prophecy fulfilled. It is a forgery. The New Testament, the Church and Christianity, were all the creation of the Calpurnius Piso (pronounced Peso) family. The New Testament and all the characters in it - Jesus, all the Josephs, all the Marys, all the disciples, apostles, Paul, John the Baptist - all are fictional. The Pisos created the story and the characters; they tied the story to a specific time and place in history; and they connected it with some peripheral actual people, such as the Herods, Gamaliel, the Roman procurators, etc. But Jesus and everyone involved with him were created (that is fictiotional!) characters.” Just because you can find some proof through history or archeology that is in the Bible, this does not give credibility to the entire fictional stories that were woven in and around factual events and places. Much of the fiction written today are woven around facts, real places, real people, real events. Yet the story is just a fictional story. Therefore, I am sorry to tell you, that your proof is not proof at all. JB WRONG AGAIN...... Fulfilled Prophecy: Evidence for the Reliability of the Bible by Hugh Ross, Ph.D. Unique among all books ever written, the Bible accurately foretells specific events-in detail-many years, sometimes centuries, before they occur. Approximately 2500 prophecies appear in the pages of the Bible, about 2000 of which already have been fulfilled to the letter—no errors. (The remaining 500 or so reach into the future and may be seen unfolding as days go by.) Since the probability for any one of these prophecies having been fulfilled by chance averages less than one in ten (figured very conservatively) and since the prophecies are for the most part independent of one another, the odds for all these prophecies having been fulfilled by chance without error is less than one in 102000 (that is 1 with 2000 zeros written after it)! God is not the only one, however, who uses forecasts of future events to get people's attention. Satan does, too. Through clairvoyants (such as Jeanne Dixon and Edgar Cayce), mediums, spiritists, and others, come remarkable predictions, though rarely with more than about 60 percent accuracy, never with total accuracy. Messages from Satan, furthermore, fail to match the detail of Bible prophecies, nor do they include a call to repentance. The acid test for identifying a prophet of God is recorded by Moses in Deuteronomy 18:21-22. According to this Bible passage (and others), God's prophets, as distinct from Satan's spokesmen, are 100 percent accurate in their predictions. There is no room for error. As economy does not permit an explanation of all the Biblical prophecies that have been fulfilled, what follows in a discussion of a few that exemplify the high degree of specificity, the range of projection, and/or the "supernature" of the predicted events. Readers are encouraged to select others, as well, and to carefully examine their historicity. (1) Some time before 500 B.C. the prophet Daniel proclaimed that Israel's long-awaited Messiah would begin his public ministry 483 years after the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem (Daniel 9:25-26). He further predicted that the Messiah would be "cut off," killed, and that this event would take place prior to a second destruction of Jerusalem. Abundant documentation shows that these prophecies were perfectly fulfilled in the life (and crucifixion) of Jesus Christ. The decree regarding the restoration of Jerusalem was issued by Persia's King Artaxerxes to the Hebrew priest Ezra in 458 B.C., 483 years later the ministry of Jesus Christ began in Galilee. (Remember that due to calendar changes, the date for the start of Christ's ministry is set by most historians at about 26 A.D. Also note that from 1 B.C. to 1 A.D. is just one year.) Jesus' crucifixion occurred only a few years later, and about four decades later, in 70 A.D. came the destruction of Jerusalem by Titus. (Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 105.)* (2) In approximately 700 B.C. the prophet Micah named the tiny village of Bethlehem as the birthplace of Israel's Messiah (Micah 5:2). The fulfillment of this prophecy in the birth of Christ is one of the most widely known and widely celebrated facts in history. (Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 105.) (3) In the fifth century B.C. a prophet named Zechariah declared that the Messiah would be betrayed for the price of a slave—thirty pieces of silver, according to Jewish law-and also that this money would be used to buy a burial ground for Jerusalem's poor foreigners (Zechariah 11:12-13). Bible writers and secular historians both record thirty pieces of silver as the sum paid to Judas Iscariot for betraying Jesus, and they indicate that the money went to purchase a "potter's field," used—just as predicted—for the burial of poor aliens (Matthew 27:3-10). (Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1011.) (4) Some 400 years before crucifixion was invented, both Israel's King David and the prophet Zechariah described the Messiah's death in words that perfectly depict that mode of execution. Further, they said that the body would be pierced and that none of the bones would be broken, contrary to customary procedure in cases of crucifixion (Psalm 22 and 34:20; Zechariah 12:10). Again, historians and New Testament writers confirm the fulfillment: Jesus of Nazareth died on a Roman cross, and his extraordinarily quick death eliminated the need for the usual breaking of bones. A spear was thrust into his side to verify that he was, indeed, dead. (Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1013.) (5) The prophet Isaiah foretold that a conqueror named Cyrus would destroy seemingly impregnable Babylon and subdue Egypt along with most of the rest of the known world. This same man, said Isaiah, would decide to let the Jewish exiles in his territory go free without any payment of ransom (Isaiah 44:28; 45:1; and 45:13). Isaiah made this prophecy 150 years before Cyrus was born, 180 years before Cyrus performed any of these feats (and he did, eventually, perform them all), and 80 years before the Jews were taken into exile. (Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1015.) (6) Mighty Babylon, 196 miles square, was enclosed not only by a moat, but also by a double wall 330 feet high, each part 90 feet thick. It was said by unanimous popular opinion to be indestructible, yet two Bible prophets declared its doom. These prophets further claimed that the ruins would be avoided by travelers, that the city would never again be inhabited, and that its stones would not even be moved for use as building material (Isaiah 13:17-22 and Jeremiah 51:26, 43). Their description is, in fact, the well-documented history of the famous citadel. (Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 109.) (7) The exact location and construction sequence of Jerusalem's nine suburbs was predicted by Jeremiah about 2600 years ago. He referred to the time of this building project as "the last days," that is, the time period of Israel's second rebirth as a nation in the land of Palestine (Jeremiah 31:38-40). This rebirth became history in 1948, and the construction of the nine suburbs has gone forward precisely in the locations and in the sequence predicted. (Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1018.) (8) The prophet Moses foretold (with some additions by Jeremiah and Jesus) that the ancient Jewish nation would be conquered twice and that the people would be carried off as slaves each time, first by the Babylonians (for a period of 70 years), and then by a fourth world kingdom (which we know as Rome). The second conqueror, Moses said, would take the Jews captive to Egypt in ships, selling them or giving them away as slaves to all parts of the world. Both of these predictions were fulfilled to the letter, the first in 607 B.C. and the second in 70 A.D. God's spokesmen said, further, that the Jews would remain scattered throughout the entire world for many generations, but without becoming assimilated by the peoples or of other nations, and that the Jews would one day return to the land of Palestine to re-establish for a second time their nation (Deuteronomy 29; Isaiah 11:11-13; Jeremiah 25:11; Hosea 3:4-5 and Luke 21:23-24). This prophetic statement sweeps across 3500 years of history to its complete fulfillment—in our lifetime. (Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 120.) (9) Jeremiah predicted that despite its fertility and despite the accessibility of its water supply, the land of Edom (today a part of Jordan) would become a barren, uninhabited wasteland (Jeremiah 49:15-20; Ezekiel 25:12-14). His description accurately tells the history of that now bleak region. (Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 105.) (10) Joshua prophesied that Jericho would be rebuilt by one man. He also said that the man's eldest son would die when the reconstruction began and that his youngest son would die when the work reached completion (Joshua 6:26). About five centuries later this prophecy found its fulfillment in the life and family of a man named Hiel (I Kings 16:33-34). (Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 107). (11) The day of Elijah's supernatural departure from Earth was predicted unanimously—and accurately, according to the eye-witness account—by a group of fifty prophets (II Kings 2:3-11). (Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 109). (12) Jahaziel prophesied that King Jehoshaphat and a tiny band of men would defeat an enormous, well-equipped, well-trained army without even having to fight. Just as predicted, the King and his troops stood looking on as their foes were supernaturally destroyed to the last man (II Chronicles 20). (Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 108). (13) One prophet of God (unnamed, but probably Shemiah) said that a future king of Judah, named Josiah, would take the bones of all the occultic priests (priests of the "high places") of Israel's King Jeroboam and burn them on Jeroboam's altar (I Kings 13:2 and II Kings 23:15-18). This event occurred approximately 300 years after it was foretold. (Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1013). Since these thirteen prophecies cover mostly separate and independent events, the probability of chance occurrence for all thirteen is about 1 in 10138 (138 equals the sum of all the exponents of 10 in the probability estimates above). For the sake of putting the figure into perspective, this probability can be compared to the statistical chance that the second law of thermodynamics will be reversed in a given situation (for example, that a gasoline engine will refrigerate itself during its combustion cycle or that heat will flow from a cold body to a hot body)—that chance = 1 in 1080. Stating it simply, based on these thirteen prophecies alone, the Bible record may be said to be vastly more reliable than the second law of thermodynamics. Each reader should feel free to make his own reasonable estimates of probability for the chance fulfillment of the prophecies cited here. In any case, the probabilities deduced still will be absurdly remote. Given that the Bible proves so reliable a document, there is every reason to expect that the remaining 500 prophecies, those slated for the "time of the end," also will be fulfilled to the last letter. Who can afford to ignore these coming events, much less miss out on the immeasurable blessings offered to anyone and everyone who submits to the control of the Bible's author, Jesus Christ? Would a reasonable person take lightly God's warning of judgment for those who reject what they know to be true about Jesus Christ and the Bible, or who reject Jesus' claim on their lives? *The estimates of probability included herein come from a group of secular research scientists. As an example of their method of estimation, consider their calculations for this first prophecy cited: * Since the Messiah's ministry could conceivably begin in any one of about 5000 years, there is, then, one chance in about 5000 that his ministry could begin in 26 A.D. * Since the Messiah is God in human form, the possibility of his being killed is considerably low, say less than one chance in 10. * Relative to the second destruction of Jerusalem, this execution has roughly an even chance of occurring before or after that event, that is, one chance in 2. Hence, the probability of chance fulfillment for this prophecy is 1 in 5000 x 10 x 2, which is 1 in 100,000, or 1 in 105. Prophecies to come This selection of prophecies from the Bible involve the end times or involve events leading up to the end times, when Jesus is to return and judge the living and the dead. 1. Jesus will return (to judge the living and the dead) Bible passage: Matthew 24:29-31 Written: During the first century AD In Matthew 24:29-31, as well as in other places within the New Testament, Jesus revealed about 2000 years ago that he would return in the future. Christians believe that when Jesus returns, he will judge the living and the dead. This belief is reflected in the Apostle's Creed, which is a summary of Christian beliefs that was written many centuries ago. The Apostle's Creed is recited by Christians during Christian worship services. Matthew 24:29-31: 29 "Immediately after the distress of those days " 'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.' 30 "At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. 31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. 2. No one will know the hour or the day of Jesus' return Bible passage: Matthew 24:36-37 Written: During the first century AD When Jesus lived in the land of Israel about 2000 years ago, he gave a very simple and concise answer when someone asked him when he would return: He explained that no one knows the hour or the day, except for God the Father (Matthew 24:36). Matthew 24:36-37: 36 No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 1. God will never forget the children of Israel Bible passage: Isaiah 49:13-17 Written: Between 701-681 BC In Isaiah 49:13-17, the Lord makes it clear that even though the people of Israel are to be exiled from their land, the Lord will never forget them, and the Lord would eventually bring the exiles back to their homeland. Isaiah lived about 2700 years ago. At about that time, the Assyrians invaded the northern part of the land of Israel and had scattered many of the people. More than a century later, the Babylonians conquered the southern part of the land of Israel, bringing an end to sovereignty, destroying Jerusalem and the Temple, and forcing people into exile. With these events in mind, it can be easy to understand the sentiment of Verse 14: "The LORD has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me." But Verses 15 and 16 remind us that the Lord will never forget the people of Israel. In fact, it says that even if a mother could forget her child, the Lord would not forget his children, for they are "engraved" on the palms of his hands. And, verses 17 and 18 show that the descendants of Israel would return, as they did after the fall of the Babylonian Empire. Isaiah 49:13-17: 13 Shout for joy, O heavens; rejoice, O earth; burst into song, O mountains! For the LORD comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones. 14 But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me." 15 "Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! 16 See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me. 17 Your sons hasten back, and those who laid you waste depart from you. 2. The people of Israel will never be completely destroyed Bible passage: Leviticus 26:44 Written: As early as 1400 BC In Leviticus 26:44, the Bible said that God would never allow the people of Israel to be completely destroyed. During ancient times, 10 of the 12 Tribes of Israel were decimated by the Assyrians. And the Babylonians had persecuted what was left of the people of Israel. Instead of assimilating or perishing, some of the people eventually were able to return to their homeland and recover their way of life. The recovery was complete enough that Jerusalem again had been restored as the center of Jewish life. And the followers of Jesus were able to begin a process in Jerusalem by which Christianity eventually spread throughout the world. Leviticus 26:44: Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them or abhor them so as to destroy them completely, breaking my covenant with them. I am the Lord their God. 3. The Jews would survive Babylonian rule and return home Bible passage: Jeremiah 32:36-37 Written: Sometime between 626-586 BC Jeremiah was one of the prophets who warned the people of Judah that they would be forced into exile by the Babylonians. In Jeremiah 32:36-37, he prophesies to the people that they will survive that their exile in Babylon and return home. Babylon had defeated the Assyrians in a decisive battle, ending in 612 B.C., at Nineveh. And then, in 609 B.C., the Babylonians captured and killed the last Assyrian king. The Assyrians had an empire that had included the land of Judah but now the Babylonians had seized control of the empire. In an effort to show the people of Judah that Babylon was now their new master, they began a process of forcing key residents into exile, as early as 605 B.C. More deportations took place in later years, culminating with the wholesale destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple in 586 B.C. Jews began returning to their homeland after the Babylonian Empire was toppled in 539 B.C., by a coalition of Medes and Persians. Jeremiah 32:36-37: 36 "You are saying about this city, 'By the sword, famine and plague it will be handed over to the king of Babylon'; but this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 37 I will surely gather them from all the lands where I banish them in my furious anger and great wrath; I will bring them back to this place and let them live in safety. 4. The people of Israel would return to "their own land" Bible passage: Ezekiel 34:13 Written: Between 593-571 BC Like Jeremiah, the prophet Ezekiel also lived during the time that the Babylonians ruled over the people of Judah, and he himself was one of the Jews who were taken to Babylon as captives. In Ezekiel 34:13, he prophesied that God would gather the exiles from the various nations to which they had been scattered and that he would restore them to "their own land." Ezekiel 34:13: I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land. 5. Enemies would move into the land of Israel Bible passage: Leviticus 26:32-33 Written: As early as 1400 BC In Leviticus 26:32-33, as well as in other prophecies of the Bible, we learn that the people of Israel would be persecuted in the nations to which they would be driven during their exile, and that the land of Israel would be in ruins. Here, though, we also learn that enemies would reside in the land of Israel during and after the time of exile (Leviticus 26:32). This fulfillment of this prophecy began about 2500 years ago when Jews began returning from their Babylonian exile. As explained in the Bible's book of Nehemiah, the returning Jews were met with hostility from foreigners who were residing in and around Jerusalem. In the early chapters within the book of Nehemiah, the foreigners taunt the Jews as the Jews seek to rebuild Jerusalem, which had been destroyed earlier by the Babylonians. Nehemiah confronts the foreigners, telling them that the Jews will be successful in rebuilding their fallen city: I answered them by saying, "The God of heaven will give us success. We his servants will start rebuilding, but as for you, you have no share in Jerusalem or any claim or historic right to it." - Nehemiah 2:20 (NIV). Nehemiah organized an effort to rebuild the walls around Jerusalem and the project was completed in 52 days, as explained in Nehemiah 6:15-16. Whereas Leviticus 26:32-33 speaks of the punishment through exile and destruction, other verses within the 26th chapter of Leviticus speak of forgiveness and restoration. Nehemiah played an important role in the restoration of the land and people of Israel after the fall of the Babylonian Empire. Leviticus 26:32-33: 32 I will lay waste the land, so that your enemies who live there will be appalled. 33 I will scatter you among the nations and will draw out my sword and pursue you. Your land will be laid waste, and your cities will lie in ruins. 1. Jesus prophesied that the Temple would be destroyed Bible passage: Matthew 24:1-2 Written: During the first century AD 2. Jesus prophesied that the Jews would be exiled Bible passage: Luke 21:24 Written: During the first century AD During the second destruction, Cassius Dio, an historian who lived during the second century, claimed that 580,000 Jews were killed, 50 fortified towns and 985 villages were destroyed. The exiled Jews were taken to countries throughout the Roman Empire and eventually scattered and re-scattered throughout the world. Luke 21:24: They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. 3. Jesus explained why Jerusalem would be destroyed Bible passage: Luke 19:41-44 Written: During the first century AD In Luke 19:41-44, Jesus prophesies that Jerusalem would be destroyed because of the rejection of Jesus as the Messiah. Although some people did accept Jesus as the Messiah, many people rejected him. In fact, the rejection was strong enough that Jesus was executed a short time after uttering the prophecy. Luke 19:41-44: 41 As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it 42 and said, "If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. 4. Daniel foretold the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple Bible passage: Daniel 9:24-26 Written: About 530 BC During the time of Daniel, who lived about 2600 years ago, the Babylonians invaded Judah (the southern part of the land of Israel) and took many Jews, including Daniel, as captives to Babylon. The Babylonians also destroyed the city of Jerusalem and the Temple, in 586 B.C. In Daniel 9:24-26, Daniel delivers a prophecy that Jerusalem and the Temple would be destroyed, again. Within these verses, Daniel provides a chronology by which certain events would occur. First, the Jews would return from captivity and rebuild Jerusalem and the Temple. Afterwards, an "anointed one," or Messiah, would appear, but he would be rejected. Then, Jerusalem and the Temple would be destroyed, again. Centuries later, these events played out during the century in which Jesus had announced that he was the Messiah. Daniel 9:24-26: 24 "Seventy 'sevens' are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy. 25 "Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven 'sevens,' and sixty-two 'sevens.' It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. 26 After the sixty-two 'sevens,' the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. 6. The Bible foreshadowed Rome's destruction of Israel Bible passage: Deuteronomy 28:49-52 Written: As early as 1400 BC The Bible has several prophecies foretelling the destruction of the land of Israel, including one in the book of Deuteronomy that coincides with the manner in which the Roman army conquered Israel during the first and second centuries: "The Lord will bring a nation against you from far away, from the ends of the earth, like an eagle swooping down . . . They will lay siege to all the cities throughout your land until the high fortified walls in which you trust fall down." (Portions of Deuteronomy 28:49-52 NIV). The Romans oppressively ruled over the land of Israel for a century before the Jews waged two wars for independence, the first beginning in 67 AD and the second beginning in about 132 AD. Both wars resulted in great destruction to the land and people of Israel. The ancient historian Dio Cassius claimed that the Roman army had razed to the ground 985 villages throughout Israel. If the figure is to believed, then it might be including settlements, along with cities and towns, throughout the land. The writings of Cassius, along with those from Josephus, another first-century historian, indicate that the Roman army's destruction of Israel was very complete. The prophecy also speaks of an eagle in reference to the army that would swoop down upon Israel and reduce it to a state of desolation. As we learn from historians, including Tacitus who lived during the first century, the Romans marched with standards - long poles adorned with the eagle figurines - held high above their heads, as though the eagles were in flight. Another feature of the prophecy is that it speaks of armies being gathered from the ends of the earth. The Romans had armies scattered throughout parts of Europe, Africa and Asia. To quell the Jewish uprising, some troops had to be called in from as far away as the British Isles. Deuteronomy 28:49-52: 49 The LORD will bring a nation against you from far away, from the ends of the earth, like an eagle swooping down, a nation whose language you will not understand, 50 a fierce-looking nation without respect for the old or pity for the young. 51 They will devour the young of your livestock and the crops of your land until you are destroyed. They will leave you no grain, new wine or oil, nor any calves of your herds or lambs of your flocks until you are ruined. 52 They will lay siege to all the cities throughout your land until the high fortified walls in which you trust fall down. They will besiege all the cities throughout the land the LORD your God is giving you. 7. Israel would become a wasteland Bible passage: Deuteronomy 29:23 Written: As early as 1400 BC In Deuteronomy 29:23, the Bible said Israel would become a wasteland. This prophecy certainly was fulfilled. The land has been described many times as having been a sparsely populated wasteland, as recently as the late 1800s. American writer Mark Twain wrote this, in 1867, about the land of Israel, which at the time was called Palestine: "Palestine sits in sackcloth and ashes… the spell of a curse that has withered its fields and fettered its energies… Palestine is desolate and unlovely… It is a hopeless, dreary, heartbroken land." - from Mark Twain's Innocents Abroad. Deuteronomy 29:23: The whole land will be a burning waste of salt and sulfur—nothing planted, nothing sprouting, no vegetation growing on it. It will be like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the LORD overthrew in fierce anger. I could go on and on but I think you get the jest. |

Where the problem lies in your alleged "fulfilled" prophecies are the possible forgeries, and lies that were were written to make it appear that prophecies happened.
Since most the the New Testament is suspect, none of the so-called prophecies can be taken seriously as all could have been self fulfilled simply by writing fictional accounts of them having been fulfilled. Feralcat:
Some time before 500 B.C. the prophet Daniel proclaimed that Israel's long-awaited Messiah would begin his public ministry 483 years after the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem (Daniel 9:25-26). He further predicted that the Messiah would be "cut off," killed, and that this event would take place prior to a second destruction of Jerusalem. Abundant documentation shows that these prophecies were perfectly fulfilled in the life (and crucifixion) of Jesus Christ. What abundant documentation? Who wrote it? Please site your abundant documentation and the author. Feralcat: The decree regarding the restoration of Jerusalem was issued by Persia's King Artaxerxes to the Hebrew priest Ezra in 458 B.C., 483 years later the ministry of Jesus Christ began in Galilee. This Arius Calpurnius Piso deliberately provoked the Jewish revolt in 66 so he could destroy the Temple in Jerusalem--for the Jews were unwilling to accept his father’s story and thereby become pacified by it as was intended. Having destroyed the Temple, Piso could then have Jesus (whom he was predating to 40 years before the Temple’s destruction) prophecy the destruction because of the Jews’ rejection of him! (Mat. 23.37-38) However, his 12th Legion was caught by the zealots in the Pass of Beth Horon and almost lost. Nero’s reaction was to exile him instead to Pannonia, to command a legion there; and to send Licinius Mucianus to serve in Syria, and Vespasian to Judaea to put down the Jewish revolt. Then in 68 Nero was assassinated by his own slave Epaphroditus--who unknown to his master was young Piso’s lackey. (Ref:Roman historians (Suet. Nero 49, and Dio Cassius) Galba became emperor and named Piso’s cousin, Licinianus Piso9, as his intended successor; but Galba in turn was soon overthrown by Otho. Otho was then overthrown by Vitellius--at which point Piso and his friends began to flock together against the latter. The Pisos and Vespasian and Mucianus and Tiberius Alexander (Philo’s nephew) all joined ranks behind Vespasian to seek to overthrow Vitellius. Arius Calpurnius Piso was still commanding the 7th Legion in Pannonia11 (Austria Hungary), and Vespasian sent him (now appearing in Tacitus with the name Marcus Antonius Primus) south across the Alps to overthrow Vitellius. Meanwhile, the main body of Vespasian’s legions marched overland under Lucianus from the east towards Rome. Piso succeeded in defeating Vitellius’army and secured Rome for Vespasian.13 Mucianus arrived and promptly sent him to Judaea to help Titus at the siege of Jerusalem. He did so, and in 70 they assaulted the city, then the Temple, burned it, slaughtered many thousands, sent thousands more to slavery and cladiatorial combat and death. Then, Arius Calpurnius Piso wrote, in sequence, the following: Gospel of Matthew 70-75 C.E. Present Gospel of Mark 75-80 C.E. Gospel of Luke (with help of Pliny the Younger) 85-90 C.E. In the gospel story he inserted himself by playing the role not only of Jesus, but of all the Josephs, as well. He particularly enjoyed assuming the identity of Joseph. Wishing to create a Jewish hero, a savior, in fictional form, he (and his father before him), felt the identity of a second Joseph secretly, but very aptly, fit them. For their name Piso had the same four letters, rearranged, as the four Hebrew letters (Yud Vov Samech Fey) which in that language spelled the name Joseph. Thus they saw themselves as the new Joseph. That is why so much of the story of Joseph in Egypt is secretly redone and inserted into the gospel story of Jesus. Ref: The true Authorship of the New Testament |

feralcatlady, please, do tell how your findings prove the bible right. To me it only proves that I learned my history lessons well at the age of 10 or so. It tells me also that the bible kept a fairly correct record of historical events, but nothing more. For you vision I can not prove.....I can only say that for me and what I believe the Bible is the inspired word of God, given to man to write down in a series of books that make up the Bible. And the only thing that I honestly could back it up with that I'm sure I would still get a fight about...Is this.....I could never imagine my God letting a book written by man and NOT inspired of him....be around for over 2000 years......I just can't see that......And I think for me the other is my unwavering faith....which as I have said before either you have or you don't. And as I believe that God gave freewill to every human being to believe whatever they wished. I not only give you your rights but expect the same in return. Oh FC...you are a mighty person & honorable too...but I have to tell yu...talking to some here is like hitting a brick wall. They are stuck in their secular dogma & it won't stop until God either hits them over the head or they die. When it becomes a nonsensical struggle it's time to let them stew in their own juices. Wipe the dust off your feet my sister. Every honorable attempt of yours to have respectful discourse had turned into mud slinging & alot of nonsense & insults toward you & others here of faith. I think it's time to stop answering these fools. You and Eljay are too honorable for this lowlife engagement. As most of us are. You gave it your best now give it's God's turn my dear. |

The "honor" of feral is questionable only because she "wishes" bad onto those who question her, with threats and inuendo. Her objectivity is mute because she pounds her bible over the heads of those who do not choose it. Her blessings are not evident because her peace within herself is never shown. Just an observation here from one lowly human. That's your baseless opinion. Lowly is right. You might wanna try setting your sights higher if you want to do any REAL good. Not seeing all that bible thumping love ya'll speak about but hey to each their own. You don't know me. |

Kerry o.....of course it doesn't give answers to things like the cure for the black plaque You specifically said: Its the answers to all the questions in the universe.....The problem is no one bothers to read or study or take it apart Extraordinary statements require extraordinary proof. I'll take this post as a retraction of your grandiose claim of omnipresent Biblical omniscience and inerrancy. As to the rest of your answer, it's futile to debate someone who believes the above. It's like trying to herd cats. Feel free to declare yourself the victor if you haven't already. People keep on dying, but at least there are people who ignore superstition and dogma to forge ahead looking for the answers to questions the ancients who wrote the Bible didn't even know enough to ask. Hopefully, humanity won't continue to make the same mistakes. -Kerry O. Trying to herd cats...classic. |

Evolution doesn't take prisoners. No, but it would be nice if some of the prisoners would evolve from religion. |

I have one BIG question. You admit that Ancient Egypt goes back to at least 3000 BC (3150 BC is general 1st dynasty). If the great flood of Noah happened in 2348BC how come the Egyptians a thriving almost 700 year culture with writing NEVER recorded a great flood ?
I would like FC to please answer this. |

I don't think that Noahs flood was worldwide myself, but regional, it's purpose to destroy the Nephilim or fallen angels and the folks that had mingled <--- pun intended with them,

Well I would not argue with you that there have been major floods throughout history in various locations all over the globe. This is common knowledge. These floods are directly and indirectly responsible for much of the earth’s geographical features such as sedimentary strata, fossilization, fossil fuels, submarine canyons, and salt domes. However the major difference here in respect to Noah's flood is that we are talking 40 days and 40 nights of rain raising the ocean levels by 29,000 feet to cover the Earth. How could anyone survive a 30 foot an hour deluge? Approximately 6 in. a minute. That is if you actually accept the bible's testimonial of events.
This flood is supposed to have occurred in 2348BC so where would have the Egyptians gone exactly if they were simply washed away? Remember, Queen Cleopatra rules both upper and lower unified Egypt up until the Roman take over at about 30BC. |

If the great flood of Noah happened in 2348BC how come the Egyptians a thriving almost 700 year culture with writing NEVER recorded a great flood ? I would like FC to please answer this. 5th time answered and last time I will. the following is written by Darren Thompson Who is chemical engineer that has worked in the rocket propulsion industry for over 15 years. I hold 10 patents and am the author of over 20 papers in rocket propellant development. I have written two books, "The Fourth Day: Why the Bible is Historically Accurate" and "Why the Bible is Historically Accurate (2nd Edition) Debbie believes that this is also an accurate assessment. I have a different explanation for the fragmentation of Egypt into petty kingdoms. I don't believe the Egypt had been fragmented but rather the presence of these petty kingdoms indicated that Egypt 's population was growing after the global flood. This can be seen be looking at Egypt 's history in the first few dynasties. I believe Menes was the first king of Egypt ever. I believe Menes is one of the "mighty men of reknown", one of the first kings of the earth (Genesis 6:4) : "And there were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, the men of reknown." I believe Menes was a great warrior that was able to defeat all the tribes around him and assembly the nation of Egypt for the very first time. I believe the sudden demise of the Old Kingdom, the great pyramid age, was caused by the global flood. The droughts (caused by a change of climate due to major earthquakes) were symptoms that the earth was about to go through a dramatic change. The global flood then occurs in the beginning of the first intermediate period and the presence of the petty kingdoms in the first intermediate period is the evidence that mankind is trying to re-establish its former population after the flood. Therefore the First Intermediate Period should not be dated 2152 B.C., but according to the Fourth Day Chronology the beginning of the First Intermediate Period should be 2313 B.C., the year of the global flood, or about 161 years earlier. If the Egyptian Chronology is shifted back 161 years the dating of Menes' reign would be corrected to the year 3081 B.C. which would be between the dates of the birth for Lamech (3095 B.C.) and Noah (2913 B.C.) according to the Fourth Day: Why the Bible is Historically Accurate chronology. This dating for Menes would make his presence consistent with the biblical appearance of the "men of renown". |
