Who has adopted children here?
I am a single mom, with my 7-yr old daughter. My daughter has been so eager to have a baby brother, and I can tell she isn't that so much happy being a solo child. She even now pushing me to go on dating and have a boyfriend and give a baby brother,I really like to have a baby boy as well. Being a single parent, plus an entrepreneur, relationships and pregnancy. I don't see it's the solution.Well, I am considering adopting a son. What are the things I need to consider? |

I might be wrong here but I don't think a person should adopt a child just to appease their kid.
Get your daughter a pet instead. |

I figured I would stop by and see what this was all about since I misread the title twice as child abortion. But I think you should do what makes you happy in this situation your child doesn't know the responsibility of having another child but if it would make you happy that she's happy then go for it. Just don't ignore your own feelings just to make her happy.

Sure it depends on your location and the situation of the child being adopted; but adoption is rarely what people expect.
It can be extremely difficult and very VERY expensive by the time you pay for all the legal fees, home study evaluation, medical evaluations of all parties involved. And you may or may not get accurate information about the child you are adopting. Infortuately many serious health issues can be hidden or don't show up until you are overwhemed with catestropheic |

I've adopted two boys from Korea. In Australia it's a long drawnout expensive exercise and they are very fussy about who can adopt. I know in asia it is very easy and quick. But it's not a rushed decision and just like having our own biological kids it is a lifetime commitment.

I have, BUT, he was my 2nd wife's son, he was 3 when we met. We married. His erhmm.. sperm donor didn't want to pay CS and was more than happy to sign away his parental rights to not have to. So I adopted him. I already had two boys from my first marriage and was paying CS. Then my 2nd wife and I wanted a girl. We got another boy. I know this does not help you, but you need to really consider what YOU want, not your daughter. Ask yourself, do you have time to raise him? what if you can't get a baby, do you want one that's say, a couple years old or not? Do you have big enough living quarters, money, etc? Think of all of you as a whole in the long run. I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you in the end. My two cents for what it's worth.

My long time buddy adopted. Two twins from Russia because he and his wife loves children and they are about the most Christian people I know in life.
To make a long story short as I myself watched every birth video and seen these kids grow. They are fantastic children that every parent would dream of. Adopting within the US is difficult from what he told me and he to go outside of the US,,,,,even then it cost tens of thousands of dollars but they are very happy. If you have the money, adopt. I never had children to be open and honest in this forum, but I dated a divorced women with 4. I loved those kids as they where my own and gave them everything and loved them with all I could. Great kids and I really like that Dad thing. Its so much fun even though its a pain at times. I really want at least one child before I get to old. I love it all. Smelly crap to splash baths that make a mess to cleaning up toys or getting poked at 2-3am because there is a monster in the room or whatever. I really love kids. They dont bother me at all. There is not a kid on the planet that make me upset for being a kid. Kids are fun and cool. You just have to know how to raise them, and anyone says that because I dont have biologics and will never get it,,,is 100% wrong. I did it all. Easy stuff. |

Found some info and resources for you. Whether you are interested in adopting kids yourself or just looking for information, there are numerous resources available to help. A quick search online will result in a number of very good websites with loads of information to help the curious or prospective adoptive parent. You can easily find letters or comments from adoptive parents, answers to frequently asked questions, information about the adoption process, details about adoptions in your area or overseas, suggestions for reputable agencies to contact, etc.
One of the first things to do when considering an adoption is to make sure that you are ready to provide for a child who is completely dependent on you. Investigate your job and financial situation to ensure that you can meet the time and money demands of raising a child. Remember that it is extremely important to provide adopted children with stability and security. A second thing to consider about an adoption is what kind of child you want to adopt. Would you like to adopt an American child located near you, or are you interested in adopting a child from overseas? Do you prefer a child with few documented mental or physical problems, or are you willing to adopt a special needs child? Once you have analyzed your own situation and determined what you want and need, contact a reputable adoption agency or legal counsel to ensure that the adoption process goes smoothly. SOURCE: http://adoption.factexpert.com/259-adopting-kids.php In addition to the great information that you can find at Fact Expert, they've compiled a list of other helpful websites that they think are useful resources: Karen's Adoption Links - Comprehensive list of websites and articles related to adoption and orphanages. SOURCE: http://adoption.factexpert.com/564-adoption-websites.php I agree with not adopting to appease your kid, its a family not a toy. Your profile says you are a 30 year old woman from Makati, Metro Manila, a city in the Philippines. You would need to look at those laws and requirements specifically. Then you could look at general FAQs on adoption. |

Do we have a love connection? Mui, I've just came out of the same situation with a girl I've know since 83. Lived together for six years. She has twin 13 year old boy. I helped raise them since they were 5 and still watch them before school for to help save her money. Have four boys of my own but they're grown.. I've loved every moment of it, even though there were plenty time's I could have pulled my hair out. Lol I applaud you sir! |
