I'm in! I'm broke. Been running on 1/2 a tank for over a month. No, I don't go anywhere, but, to a nearby store. I like hybernating. I may get gas next month!! It's not hard to do without if you're not working and don't have kids. Also passing this along to everyone on my e-mail list.

don't pump gas on the 21'st flawed logic, if you buy it early or late means nothing park your car for one day that would hurt. I still remember the early days, my first car off the showroom floor 450 dollars my first tank of gas 9 cents a gallon, for this they pumped your gas checked your oil your cooling system checked your tires and cleaned your windshield. oh did I forget 34 cents an hour was a very high paying job times have changed. would you like to go back?????????

It's a completely useless and flawed idea. The only way to reduce the cost of your gas is to ultimately use less of it. Buying it a day earlier or a day later or a few days later isn't going to change the supply. So change your demand since you won't be able to change the supply side of the equation. Boycotts that don't involve any inconvience are usually completely useless. If you want to boycott, carpool, drive less, take public transportation, don't go out as much.

The only people you hurt by doing this is the poor guy at the gas station not the big wigs at the company. You hurt the independent service station operators who don't have any say in the price of gas. They operate on thin margins and you're only hurting the little guy.

The only way to decrease the price is to make a concerted effort to do without. Yeah it takes some sacrifice, just like most things that get results.

Don't piss on the little guy, don't participate in ill-conceived, nonsensical gas outs.

shoot... i have already started that ..we need to do it more then once .. we need to do it more often ... !!

it will make A DIFFERENCE IF WE DO IT MORE THEN 1 TIME A MONTH /// MORE LIKE 3 OR 4 TIMES A MONTH ..!! OR MORE...

No it won't, it won't make a bit of difference if you're still driving the same amount. If you drive the same amount you still use the same amount of gas. No method of math can possibly change that.

if you have been driving one thousand miles a week or month, the only thing that will hurt is bring that milage down to 800 or 900 for the same time frame. but as long as you don't reduce your milage it will not matter.

I want to go back, widower. Wish it were that easy. Never been comfortable in my "generation". Don't feel like I belong here and now!!
We gotta try. Ya can't just say piss on it! That's what got us in this mess to start with.
Wouldn't it be nice if everyone could get jobs near where they live? I bet the price of gas would drop with shorter commutes. I sent this to 100 people in my e-mail addy book.

The issue with these things is that people with the best intentions were too busy in yoga class meditating to attend their economics classes. Again, and hopefully for the last time, if you want to affect change delete the first post from this thread and send out an email telling people to not use their cars one or 2 days a week.

I'm well aware that not everybody lives somewhere where they have access to public transportation to get to work and most people can't afford to ditch their car for a hybrid. But you can carpool, you can plan your trips out to drive less. Like pick up groceries on the way home instead of going home then going out again. People can drive at the speed limit on the highways, driving at 60mph is more efficient than driving at 80mph. People can check their tire pressure every other week to ensure they are properly filled, it conserves gas and saves you a penny. Other things you can do, ditch the dubs and massive stereo equipment, adding weight to a car decreases it's mileage.

On the plus side, these high gas prices are making people think about hybrids, and alternative fuels.

like i said in one of my previous posts, fart in the tank, set fire to it and fly around the room. saves you money. natural gas.

and for heavens sake if you think i am serious, read this.
yesterday, i put shell gas in my car. i took someone for a trip to a far off place. and while we were there, something mysterious happened. when i went to start the car, it would not start. 3x i cranked on that puppy. at number 4 crank, it buzzed, caught and took off. but from the rear end poured the most thick helashus burning white smoke i have ever seen. then, it smelled like it was burning. then, it quit. SHELL, I hope you are reading this because it is your gas. Well kind of sorta. It could be a blown head gasket caused by SHELL gas.happy

The problem with this is that at least half the people that hear about these things will either fill up the day before or the day after, so the oil companies make it up that way (at least a chunk, anyway). I'm all for trying to lower gas prices, but it takes a lot more than this. People need to drop their egos and stop thinking "bigger is better" when it comes to cars and trucks...we should all concentrate more on WHEN we don't need to drive and WHAT we don't need to drive. If the gas station is a mile away and you need a pack of smokes or a soda, WALK! it's a 2 mile round trip and God knows that at least half of all Americans don't get enough exercise. I'm not trying to preach or be an arse, but there's more things we need to do than just picket for a day......

what's really cool is i saw this documentary thing on tv about this farmer. He has a giant furnace that heats his house AND barns, and it runs off the methane gas found in cow pies (filters control stench)...so you're not too far off from a great idea here. If we can use methane to create heat for buildings, why can't we use it to power cars? there's plenty of cows and it's a combustible gas anyway....
