It is actually ethanol that they make, not methanol.

$1.09/litre for diesel here. Gas is more but I don't know what the price is right now.

i love how as soon as you recommend that people should be less wasteful with oil everyone breaks out their sob stories with their 10 kids and arctic weather and 5am work start defending why they ABSOLUTELY HAVE to drive a big-ass truck or whatever.
i never said everyone needs to load their families onto a bicycle built for 5.

i just think that everyone needs to stop being so wasteful and be more conservation-minded by doing things like cutting out unnecessary driving, public transportation, carpooling, buying smaller more efficient cars, etc.

we're the only country that thinks we need to drive such inefficient vehicles so often. (it has something to do with the fact that gasoline is so crazy subsidized by the government..) the rest of the world manages to get by without all of our destructive habits

*and fyi ETHANOL is not the answer to our problems (um neither is taking it from other countries with the misguided notion that it's ours to take). currently it takes more fuel to produce the corn than you'll get FROM the corn

where did u see over $4.00? now we are paying about 3.19 for regular that makes your car shake, rattle, roll, and ping and the other stuff? i don't even bother with....diesel is higher than any gas. and it used to be .99 cents a gallon in the old days.

my suggestion is that we should make our own methel, fart in the tank, and set fire to it, and fly around the room. then, we would not have to worry about gasp prices. well this is just a suggestion. it might not work in theory, but it sounds good doncha think? NOW CENSOR THAT>

in columbia. Missouri it was 2:89 to 3 bucks.. We are being shamned even the news say the oil companies say it should not be more than $60 a barrel. The stock market is running it up along with our gov. needing a scapegoat as lauren had said about ethonal. Corn is related to almost everything we eat. Eggs are up 44% milk 25% ect. look at your grocery bill. Look at who is getting rich off of making ethanol. I spoke with a guy in St Louis about a month ago he lives north of Alanta and he said thier milk was 6.95 a gallon. It is 4 here. Bush veto's bills for the poor and raises hell to get war money. We know where his heart and pocket book is. China in Jan.2007 outlawed the production of ethanol for fear of a food shortage. Did anyone here about this on our news? Please say if u did. I have said all along gas would have to go up for fall and winter to take our eye off the real culprit ETHANOL. We could be headed for disaster or at least a made up one. I personally believe we will have a severe drought next year and 1929 will look pretty good... Miles

meanwhile high fructose corn syrup is in freaking everything since there used to be such a needless surplus of corn they didnt know what to do with it besides make the nation addicted to sugar.

im an environmental engineer.. and honestly there arent too many promising fuel alternatives in development that dont require oil for their production.

so really CONSERVATION is your best bet as of yet.. dont assume our energy debt can be bailed out with ethanol

Do you remember in 1999 when OPEC was going to meet to cut production and raise prices? A barrel of oil was 25 bucks. So what happened? President Clinton personally flew to Saudi Arabia to talk to the king about this. Saudi Arabia then informed the rest of the members of OPEC that if they cut production that they would produce all they could and sell it for 25 dollars a barrel. OPEC backed out. That summer i bought gas in St Louis Mo. for 67 cents a gallon. Did Bush do anything to try and keep oil prices down? When the Alaskan pipeline went down we had been told Saudi could not produce anymore oil. Well those 400,000 barrels a day we lost Saudi immediately said they could make up. But I thought they were maxed out. Not much news either we were just happy gas did not go up. Another dumbing of the American public....... Miles

$3.29 for regular in Port Townsend, WA, but have 3 stations, and the cheapest is $3.17, at least today, but can change their price sometimes 3 times a day.

Diesel was $3.75 a gallon the last time I drove by the station, which was a couple of weeks ago, likely higher now. Just plain ridiculous.

Eggs at Safeway - 18 packs - buy one, get 1 free - $5.69 !!!
Walnuts (Diamond) $7.69 a pound - just in time for holiday
baking.
Produce is high, of course.
