I've said it before, if you spend your life looking back at what could have been and what was you'll end up running over and going by what may be. Learn from your past but don't dwell upon it.

You could have become a stewardess and fallen out of the sky.

What makes you think the other possibility is more possible?

Valuing possibilities that could of been over possibilities that could be sounds like a bad investment to me. in fact its a guaranteed way to devalue your future.

Lessons learnt from the past are valuable and worth investing in ones future.

A vacation revisiting past possibilities can be refreshing as long as you don't start living in the past

I could have been many things I am thankful I didn't become

I could have been a motorcycle racing champion

The only thing stopping me was talent and skill when all I had was balls

I agree that all those "What Ifs" are totally pointless. You are where you are for a reason, and as far as I'm concerned that reason is that I need to be exactly where I am right now.

When I look back, I tend to see what I could and have learnt from situations, relationships, friendships and jobs.
I always wanted to become an operating theatre assistant. That is the only thing I ever wanted to be. Apart from a wife and mother that is.
Life offered me different choice though, and one was choosing between becoming a nurse or going abroad. I chose to go abroad.
For years I sort of regretted not being a OR assistant, but as I got a bit wiser -around the age of 40- I started to see that that path was not right for me. I only wanted to do that because I was what is called a "pleaser".
I didn't come here this life to be a lifelong pleaser.
So when the Cosmos offered me that choice when I was 19, I made the right choice for me. Had I gone for the other option, I would likely still be an OR assistant today, and ... unhappy.

So I haven't got the great paycheck, I have no career. But I DID make the right choice for me, I AM happy. I AM doing what I am supposed to be doing this life.
And all the friends, partners and jobs I've had this life helped me to get to where I am today. They were all teachers. Road signs to help me get to where I'm supposed to be. And right now I am in the right place at the right time. And I will travel on :)

What if I hadn't ran as fast as I did? I could have been caught.

Wait. Did I say that out loud?
