Topic: Does age really matter? | |

I find that a lot of people think that age is such a problem in relationships. In my opinion, age is just a number. Maturity defines your age in my mind.

you are correct, but maturity correlates in most cases with age,,,, partcularly the closer one is to when 'puberty' began

Show me someone who says that age is just a number, and I'll show you someone who hasn't been arrested for being with an under-aged girl.

David that's not what I mean. I mean in a actual relationship, where the two consenting people are of age.

I find that a lot of people think that age is such a problem in relationships
Only when it is disparate. Most people have no problem with age when it is in a subjective range. As has been said, ad nauseam, everyone has their preferences and comfort levels. In my opinion, age is just a number.
And time is an illusion, but people still worry when they're late for work. Maturity defines your age in my mind.
Maturity is the ability to act/react in socially acceptable or desirable ways to...life. Situations. Other people. Part of maturity is realizing and being mindful of the consequences to how you behave. Meaning, a component of maturity is facing the reality of how other people will behave in response to how you choose to behave, and caring. If you are advocating that people shouldn't care, that other people, their comfort, or raging against the reality of how they will react to your desires, then it's ultimately an immature desire. If your goal is to simply billboard your desires it would be more mature to say "I am seeking a woman between the ages of x and y to explore a z type relationship." If your goal with this thread is "People should be more open to age disparate relationships and there should be greater availability and openness of women to date men my age, and if that happens other people shouldn't care, people need to get over themselves" then you are ultimately proving immaturity, and showing maturity and age might be completely unrelated, that maturity defining age is not really in your mind. |

For me i guess it depends on the age difference.
If its a only a half dozen years at my time of life no. If it were someone in their 20's or early 30's, i wouldnt be able to help but feel as though i maybe taking away their chances to experience life the way they should for their age. I wouldnt be comfortable knowing i was the reason they might miss out on all the things i got to experience at those stages of my life. To each their own though, some people are able to bridge the gap and make it work |

If the mental agility is cohesive and other factors, like "actual and mutual" likeability are in sync then NO age does not matter.....But big differences of age in a romantic relationship must be evaluated carefully.
