DEVIL DARED

If anyone ever cared
When my days were devil dared
Would my world have changed
Before falling insane

Had a soul shown me kindness
When all logic seemed mindless
Would my dreams have been realized
Goodness idolized

It seems that to be
To feel, to breathe, to see
A light from beyond must flicker
Before my heart’s final run of its old aged ticker

If just one spare tire in despair
Had answered my cries without blank clueless stares
Perhaps my life would have surfaced
Perhaps there could have been purpose

And yet you mock the illusions
That encapsulate my being
When had you showed me some attention
I could have earned some honorable mentions

It seems that to be
To hold, to be bold and not fold
A light from beyond must flicker
Before the tainted soul grows sicker

If only someone had cared
Before my days became devil dared
