You could house 'em up give 'em a shower and cook for them too.
no way in hell I would bring one into my home
I will gladly advocate and give them the phone numbers of local food banks, homeless shelters and employment agencies

I was living in Jacksonville, with someone I was supposed to marry. I caught her in a few lies... I decided against it, so I gave her every cent I had, and moved to Orlando, as I could make something out of nothing, but she had a child, and I wanted her to be comfortable...... Needless to say, I had to start completely over, and it just took awhile.... Every time I had $1500, which would get me into an apt, something would come up, and a lot of somethings came up.... I eventually kicked azzs in a time where business was flat and scarce...... It was what it was... I also helped many people less fortunate, despite my setbacks..... Just glad to have the opportunity to kick it... and gather another handful of wisdom...

She was dating a doctor three months after I left, and even asked for more cash..

I was homeless for close to 2 years, when the savings and loan fell, in August 87- April 89. A great time to break up and give someone everything, lol. It was harsh, but could have been worse. I took showers outside, sometimes under a hose in 20 degree temps....pretended it was a mountain waterfall, lived in the woods with Vietnam vets, and worked jobs during the night, bouncing nightclubs and exotic dancing, as well as signs and special effects jobs when I could get them during the day.

It was hard to come up with the money to get an apartment when you have to live day to day, with no refrigerator to save food, and come up with that mentioned $1,500 first, last, and security. I did eventually, and possibly what helped is, that I don't drink or have vices. most do, and it takes a lot to feed those vices. I was the only one to get out. Very very fortunate I consider myself, and it humbled me consistently.

Funny thing.....The week after I moved in,...they started $99 move-in specials!!!! Man was I pissed!!!!
Out of close to 75 Vietnam vets, and other people down on their luck, I was the only one that got out of that woods. I'd visit from time to time.... The rest had moved south, or died, don't know which.

To this day, I don't think how-ever, that by any means, am I dating material, in any shape or form, and don't want to be. I'm not here for that. My profile would tell you why. Besides, monsters don't date anyway.

Its a very difficult question isn't it?

I would like to think That YES I would date a homeless person,
As long as:
1 - I was single and lived alone
2 - If she was okay up top (Composite, not a few cents short)
3 - Educated - to the point where she could string sentences together
4 - She wasn't on the WANTED list for fraud/murder etc

The reality of the facts is that in UK you will rarely meet a person who is all of the above AND homeless, most homeless single women get social housing before guys.

YES there is a lot of homeless YOUTH out there,
I doubt if I would want to be someone who isn't close to own age
(say +/- 5 years)

My mentality is that, we come into the world naked and leave naked,
So as long as my children are accounted for and safe and they would not need to worry about wanting for anything.

MMmmmm YES it's a difficult question...
But don't we all have to kiss a lot of frogs/toads until a prince/princess comes along?

Maybe also, this is an easy conclusion to come to if you have nothing to lose also? as in the way of material possessions?

Coming from goat herder's point of view....
It's quite simple?

Maybe if I was born with a silver shovel in my mouth, then my point of view maybe different too?

Though I would hope and pray that it wouldn't be as I do not want to be a person who values material goods above the value of a human being...

And who knows what tomorrow holds?
Maybe any one of us could become bankrupt,
lose everything including family...
And be homeless...
Would not our perspective of things be different?

Jaan, you have much wisdom, and are humble and very fair...drinker

Anyone can end up homeless at anytime, people seem to forget that all too real fact, especially outside of Europe and North America, where Gov'ts are greedier at times.

It doesn't change who one is if they have good integrity. I have seen millionaires lose everything, and become destitute on one night in both Jamaica, and Morocco. In the outskirts of Agadir, Morocco, they even took his clothes... He walked dazed, completely naked through the streets... nothing is perfectly secure... we can prepare for things to a point.

yeah.... I think I do.

Compartmentalizing others and being judgmental, or just plain prejudiced maybe?.... toward those you don't know..... or do you?..... Maybe I pissed you off when I was in I was in your country... And I just didn't realize it.

calling me Yank n schitt.... you got some salt in your wound. I didn't put it there, or come out with it if I did. no riddles.

Homeless - Working at Google

Homeless can be a positive thing. But, most people focus on it being negative. But, It may very well just be a chose.

When I go camping, in my 4X4, I have enough supplies for 3-4 weeks. I usually go deep into the woods, high in the mountains, or, just go from place to place. When I encounter other people they typically assume I'm living in my vehicle and it's okay with them. No shame thrown my way. Often times people are curious and say they wish they could do what I was doing. Although my vehicle is setup for full time living, I rather live in my house and do.

Umm..ok.. what's this topic about would you date a homeless person?.

Umm.. typically I try to date up !..not down..lol.. so the answer would be no..
Now would I date somebody that is having a run of bad luck.. maybe lost their job... sure if I was certain they were able to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps... of course I would.. would even offer to help out financially if I could.. but I would suspect that type of woman would not want the help... but I would still take her out and insist on letting me buy groceries with her for her..

About 9 years ago I did date a homeless man who unfortunately was also an alcoholic. He had a great heart .

We were together for a couple years. He would work off and on and lived with me off and on until we split up for good. But before I told him it was over....I talked him into rehab. He's been clean for years now...has a steady job and a great woman..I am so proud of him .

I would date a homeless man again in a heartbeat with a great heart than a scummy dirt bag in a suit
