I don't smoke but I'm not against others using it in moderation. I'm especially for medical marijuana and voted on prop 215 in CA.
I know some very professional people who are very successful and do a little on the side. The highschool friends who smoked all the time didn't seem to do as well as one would have thought they could do. I think there are overall more issues with Drunk drivers to be concerned about. The only reason I heard the government doesn't allow weed is because they can't tax it cause you can grow your own.??? |

Each to their own, and if you need to sedate 'being', so be it.
Personally, I prefer to deal with life, learn to manage the challenges, and live a fully aware life. |

Well I'll say this last thing. The one thing I hate about the drugs as others have said is that they can destroy lives and families and the other thing is people are being killed left and right over it's use and territories. Drug dealers go after kids which is real bad! They have no right to do that and yet they do it for profit because they don't care about others.
So while it would be nice to be able to catch a high differently every now and then (as I said I don't smoke weed) it has been so pervasive and destructive as to make most people say forget it all together. At least California voted for the Medical acceptance of weed which was long overdue for people in pain. |

I don't like it personally, but living near Amsterdam, I also know the anti-weed propaganda is also a lot of crap. We have cafes where you can buy and smoke pot (it has to be done on premises or in your home -- you can't just light up anywhere).
Has it increased crime? Petty theft is all around anyway - deal with it. Is it annoying that I see little plastic ziplocs on the street with a pot leaf stamped on it? Sure, but no more than when I see a empty Marlboro or shag tobacco wrapper in the gutter. Does smoking pot make you a deviant? Hah! I think being a Republican these days is a worse indicator, but no -- having lived in the US for 38 years and then living here nearly 10, I can attest that it makes NO difference. Life is safe when it's out in the open, if not a bit safer, than when it's lived in the shadows. We still have a couple of drug addicts who momentarily bother you for change, but it's in one or two street corners in the Red Light -- I've had no bothering anywhere else. Compare that to Chicago or Denver, comparatively small cities where begging is endemic (and that's the presumption that the begging is for drugs. ) Nah - legalize it. Corral it. Hold it back -- you'll never eliminate it, but you can tax it and keep it from being a total drain on resources. |
