Today a rare person died a gentleman who found his own voice and chose to honor his values even as his career was halted for over two and a half years. Fortunate to meet him at the U of H on a Friday and as he was on tv a gentle and caring person who exuded warmth and compassion. Not everyone agrees with politics but how many of us actually step up and assume personal responsibility for our beliefs? Ali was a man of integrity in spite of social ostracism and prejudice and ultimately demonstrated his position against the Vietnam war was echoed years later when the public realized who was being killed for no apparent reason. I honor a man who has the courage and tenacity to stand by his convictions in an time when almost everyone prostitutes his/her self for self aggrandizement.
Favorite joke Ali is on a flight and a flight attendant sees he is not wearing a seat belt so she says " Sir you must fasten your seat belt! and Ali replied " Superman don't need no seat belt" and the Flight attendant corrected his comment with " Superman don't need no plane" great man great athelete, genuine man... |
