* WERE IS THE UNITED STATES ? ** Canadians were among the first to help New Orleans during Katrina. * U.S. helps fort McMurray / zero * America helps Fort Mcurray / zero * I used "Google" on the above, and the check other stations / ZIP ** just below you... and if you remember correctly, y'all probably got to New Orleans before the US did... we have always been slow on everything, just depends how much media is involved to make the states look good on camera... does anyone know how this started anyway? just curious, wondering if a meteorite might have.... ** The area is surrounded by boreal forest/pines. The tree's seeds "activate" after being burned. * Read about a meteorite a few days ago. * As "Rains" (no pun intended) pointed out "north was very dry last year and Alaska is already having forest fires, now" * Dry warm winter, mixed with warm spring winds is a recipe for many forest fires this year. ------------------------------------------------------------------ * 11:40am. Today, A convoy of evacuee vehicles is making a daunting drive along a hellish stretch of highway through Fort McMurray, accompanied by the RCMP on the ground and military helicopters in the air. Approximately 8,000 evacuees were airlifted out of oil worker camps in the north on Thursday. The RCMP vehicles are escorting 50 vehicles at a time southbound on Highway 63, with four Griffin helicopters following overhead to watch for threats. An estimated 1,500 vehicles are lined up to make the drive through the city, to about 20 kilometres south of it. ** Personally I am shocked at how organized it has been, up till now. I hope they can continue at this pace, as everyone is becoming exhausted and equipment is being overused. ** Tar Sands risks, and damage is being assessed. All production is stopped. From memory? I think that is one third of U.S. consumption. Processor's inventories will deplete mmm 1 week/2 weeks. I guess U.S. will notice then |

The hotshots team my brother is on is in Canada right now.. I have been trying to get a hold of him all week finally got a call this am from SIL and was told my brother was in Canada as of Wednesday night.. Where even she wasn't clear on it. So I do know that some Americans are there or is it business as usual and Alaskans are not counted as part of the STATES... I do know that Canadians and Alaskans are always going back and forth to help each other out. just saying |

Call it knee-jerk reaction or what-have-you. * The new guy, see's it and may offer help or just walks away. ** As the Canadian Federal Government has guaranteed full restitution. Indirectly the U.S. is covering the total cost. * U.S.S.R. does have a very big problem. I am confident their friends (China) will help them. (enjoy) * "isn't Canada a sovereign nation," Nah, it's an Attitude The same quiet, can-do attitude is in action now in Fort McMurray. |

9 Billion
* Insurance experts mused about losses in the range of $9 billion if the town needs to be rebuilt — an amount almost equal to the annual budget of Nova Scotia. * Ford Credit has waived all payments for area residents. Other firms are now following "leader" Ford and are doing the same. * Fire will double in size by Saturday. NBC News: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=je6H9QEL6fQ |

This is horrible I know that Alaska has sent firefighters to Canada exactly where I am not sure.. We also have a fire about 10 miles from where I live right now. Looks like a long dry hot summer and well lots and lots of fires this year last year was bad.. Praying for all those families. *** City Gone * Photo's of the City of Fort McMurry http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2016/05/06/fort-mcmurray-fire-photos_n_9859878.html |

People can help automatically when there isn't a legal barrier preventing it. So, answer Moe's question. Has Canada's federal government requested help from the U.S. government? |

That's not how it supposed to work in times of crisis DDD. I'd be shocked if the US didn't offer help, there's nothing anyone could have done to contain this (except city planners) It was the perfect conditions for a major firestorm. |
