I play the field, and it looks like I just hit a home run with you. Some of these lines are really cute :) But I can't remember hearing pickup lines used. I'm thinking maybe we are too down to earth for that? I'm gonna ask my friend if she ever heard any used. Curious now. Some things that sound beautiful and funny in English, don't work in Dutch. One of the reasons I write in English. . . .

Actually, pick up lines are immature and quite ineffective A preferred method is to be honest, direct and simply find a common issue to use for the introduction as sincerity tends to be effective when done honestly. There is not a guarantee that anything 0ne says will work what matters is that one does it well and often the results will work but its a process that requires much confidence and continued effort to prevail If you are naïve and believe its simple you will learn quickly that its a cultivated social skill that once mastered is effective.I had a gentleman watch me meet people in a social setting and afterword offered me 1500 to teach him how to find the confidence, social skills and needed responses and was glad to help... I fully agree with you but you cannot deny that some still use them, most times to no avail, but they keep trying. Yes lack of skills and desperation ( not to mention alcohol)often motivate much of human behavior often with negative consequences What is that saying? Ignorance is bliss? the rest of that quote is "tis folly to be wise..."

I have never used a pick up line. But then again, no woman has ever said "yes" to me asking her out. ....so maybe I SHOULD try using pick up lines.
