Topic: Are you your job? | |
---|---|
Do you see yourself as the career choice you make, or something different?
I find it interesting that people can be so insulted and offended by someone not liking what they do for a career. If you like your job, and another doesn't like it, how does that make such a big difference to you? Are you your job, or something else? |

I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE my job! It is SO me!
Seriously, this is the job I was meant for. I should have had this job decades ago, but I know I wouldn't have appreciated it then like I do now. People envy me the job I have. I am blessed. |

I love my job, I start classes next spring to make it my career. No one wants the job though. I work for an office that prepares property values for property taxes. We get lots of people yelling and screaming at us. In december we start going to court to fight the residents. It's fun. I like the debate.
I AM MY JOB!!! |

My job is pretty much my life seeing as it's my business and I grew it from nothing into the small but worthwhile thing it is today.
Do I care if people don't like what I do or think my job is boring? No cause I like it and it keeps money in my pockets so screw them lol. Nobody should care what others think of them anyway, it makes no difference what others think, only what YOU think of you and your work. |

I am my job and I hate it...lol. I mean I love my job, but I know that everyone who hears what I do for a living totally judges me by it...some don't even give me a chance to speak after they find out!!! It's not a bad job, but everyone has an image in their mind already of someone in my profession...and it's not usually a good one! Oh well. It's what I do and when given the chance, I do change peoples opinion of my industry. Usually, when they find out after they know me...lol.

my job is not me, it pays my bills feeds my children and puts a roof over my head......would I love to do something else? sure, most of us would, but we do what we have to to make it through this thing called life.

Andrea, How can you be so happy about bringing pain and misery to so many middle class and low income people? half of the property values that are rigged up should be fought. specially with a declining home and property market......I guess someone has to do it, just shouldnt love it so much.

I enjoy what I do to support my family and community, I get great satisfaction out of it.
However, I am sooo much more than a job. I have people telling me they can't stand what I do, that I am a meddler, and should go back to housework, which is cool, I ask them to pay me to stay home and I will gladly quit... But I am not going to tell them they are wrong, or be insulted or offended, because they are voicing their opinion about my work, a J.O.B., I am not a J.O.B.. I am a living breathing human, with intense passions and desires, likes, dislikes, opinions, I am so much more than a J.O.B. so many more shades and textures than what I do to feed my family. |

I'm happy for those of you who love your job! As for those of you who don't...I guess a shift in your perspective is the way to go! |

Who I am will never be about my job but really what I do with that job... what I put into it that is me. That's what makes things I do cool. I have worked as a Behavior Specialist, Music Store Manager, and now it's a mix between Real Estate and side projects that don't make me money but I work hard at them.
I tone my personality down a bit when I work professionally but when the work is done I bring out the fun passionate side that makes me laugh even at myself. For those with jobs that Suck! I truely understand and have been there a few times. Peace, John |

I don't love my job, but I like it well enough. I'm not miserable doing what I do, which is working on cars. It's one of my hobbies so it's already something I enjoy. And hey, I get more experience out of it, so it's a pretty good deal i suppose. Could be worse...

I don't necessarily think that a job has to indicate who a person is. I mean, sure, a higher paying job might make things easier and let you have more ability to have things, but money cannot buy happiness, and a job is just something that we do to make money.
I am a driver, whether it be delivering pizzas or driving an 18 wheeler. And honestly I don't care what anyone thinks as long as I am taking care of myself and not bothering anyone else with it. It is important to me that I have a good working relationship with others. I have had some jobs where most people don't like me, but I kept on working there just to piss them off I think the bottom line here is that life is too short not to enjoy what you do. And it doesn't matter what anyone thinks as long as we are not miserable doing what we do. |
