WE'RE NOT BROKE is the story of how U.S. corporations have been able to hide over a trillion dollars from Uncle Sam, and how seven fed-up Americans from across the country, take their frustration to the streets . . . and vow to make the corporations pay their fair share. Synopsis: America is in the grip of a societal economic panic. Lawmakers cry "We're Broke!" as they slash budgets, lay off schoolteachers, police, and firefighters, crumbling our country's social fabric and leaving many Americans scrambling to survive. Meanwhile, multibillion-dollar American corporations like Exxon, Google and Bank of America are making record profits. And while the deficit climbs and the cuts go deeper, these corporations—with intimate ties to our political leaders—are concealing colossal profits overseas to avoid paying U.S. income tax.

What you are glorifying Bernie for is his desire to take government control of America's "evil" corporations! Be careful what you wish for!!!!

When govt controls it does so with force (reference the actions of govt on the people without that power today..... what you are vilifying as corporate sin). Now imagine if they controlled EVERYTHING needed to sustain life and livelihood...... slaphead

Hmmm.. I think you really have to taste communism.. to live it, to see the true ramifications of it. Otherwise, you really have no clue. How could you?

I did, for 2 1/2 years.. had to, that was where my work sent me. China. Interior China. And I'm telling you , the Government is in charge of EVERYTHING. and everybody. They run EVERYTHING.

As a whole, the people are reduced to drones, who just follow orders and do as they are told. Don't ask questions.. Don't rock the boat. Accept the life you are told to accept.

At times I would have to access the internet " backdoor" just to find out what was going on IN China... around me. Forget about Google and 10's of 1,000'S of other sites... big black X comes up... unauthorized site. And you then hope that there is not a knock on the door.

So, I think I'll pass on anything communist or socialist... I'll take my chances with my own countries system.. broken or not.. at least I have a say in my own country and my own future.

i agree, look what the capitalist built for us, and in a few years, it's almost destroyed by 1 socialist, obarry...can anyone say anything has better since he's been in office?

Here is what socialism looks like.

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — First milk, butter, coffee and cornmeal ran short. Now Venezuela is running out of the most basic of necessities — toilet paper.

Blaming political opponents for the shortfall, as it does for other shortages, the embattled socialist government says it will import 50 million rolls to boost supplies.

That was little comfort to consumers struggling to find toilet paper on Wednesday.

"This is the last straw," said Manuel Fagundes, a shopper hunting for tissue in downtown Caracas. "I'm 71 years old and this is the first time I've seen this."

Or how about: Greece: A lesson in socialist failure
Greece has become an object lesson in how not to run an economy. This week, the International Monetary Fund packed up and left its negotiations with far-left Greek prime minister Alexis Tsipras over his absolute intransigence on the issue of necessary fiscal reforms.

Socialism will not work, whether in one country, a multi-state region such as Europe, or the entire world. Ludwig von Mises explained that socialism is not an alternative economic system. It is a program for consumption. It tells us nothing about economic production. Since each man's production must be distributed to all of mankind, there is no economic incentive to produce anything, although there may be the incentive of coercion and threats of violence.

Socialism is the government for idiots who think it will work by taxing businesses out of business.

But, on the upside, their corporations don't pay taxes either, because they have no corporations.

The dirty little secret that politicians on both sides don't want you to know is that all corporate taxes hurt the poor more than anyone else! Politicians love to say Tax big oil, tax the big corporations but if you understand even the basics of economics you would know that it is all B.S., the customers end up paying those taxes.

example of economics 101: The government tells Oscar Myer they have to pay 5 million in new taxes. Do you think the board sits around the table and says "Harry, looks like you have to cancel the purchase of your new Yacht". Hell no, they will either raise the price of hot dogs, lay people off or a combination of the two. The price of hot dogs(or any other goods)goes up and the poor which are less able to pay higher prices get stuck paying the bill. This is true in any business whether it is "big oil" or any retail chain.

So don't believe the B.S. about taxing big corporations because they just pass the extra cost to you the consumer!

Someone even wrote about his personal experience in China with communism?!? What does communist China have to do with the financial collapse in The US & the actual political position that define Sanders platform as per those scholars who study philosophy, society, & economics? none Someone wants to blame the economy crash & bank bail-out on Obama[alone]who had just taken office in 2008! Someone else decries the fact that the democrats have been in power for 8 yrs & not been effective?The 2014 elections gave the Republicans control of the Senate (and control of both houses of Congress) for the first time since the 109th Congress. If Bernie Sanders Wins, Say Goodbye To THESE Common, Essential Items

By Brian Thomas

venezuela

Corporations shouldn’t be owned by the elites. Government subsidies destroy poverty. Democratic Socialism will establish community priorities and improve our cities. Feel the Bern? Those were arguments for socialism in Venezuela.

Venezuela gives Americans a sneak peak at what we can have, if only we’ll elect Bernie Sanders. Socialism has been going strong there for nearly twenty years, and its proponents justify their policies with arguments Bernie has been using throughout his campaign.

If any country can demonstrate Sanders’s vision for America, it’s a nation in crisis, like Venezuela.

The South American country is experiencing falling GDP and soaring inflation. It’s also hard to find anything in a Venezuelan shopping mall while commercial staples experience years of shortages.

Now, a government ration on electricity leaves already desperate shoppers in the dark.

Yahoo News is reporting:

Authorities say the three-month restrictions will affect more than 250 shopping centers that must find other sources of power from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and again from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.

Unable to generate their own electricity, most malls are shutting their doors during those hours.

[…] The government enforces strict capital controls that have caused a shortage of foreign currency, which seriously limits companies’ ability to import the necessary equipment.

“Ordering shopping centers to generate their own energy without giving them access to foreign currency for equipment in a country subject to foreign-exchange controls is absurd,” said economist Luis Vicente Leon.

Businesses say electricity rationing will harm an economy that is suffering from triple-digit inflation and contracted 10 percent last year.

The International Monetary Fund estimates it will contract another eight percent this year.

If Bernie Sanders knows how to avoid problems like these, he should be able to defend his positions.

The media could give him a chance to do so, if they follow suggestions from The Blaze:

Here’s a simple question the media has managed to avoid asking Bernie Sanders:

For nearly two decades, socialism has been implemented in a variety of ways in Venezuela. Have the results been good? If not, how would you, as a socialist president, avoid those same results here in the U.S.A.?

[…] why not ask Sanders which of Chavez’s policies are on the right track? It’s pretty easy to outline the Bolivarian economic program:

Massive spending on social programs, such as public housing, health care, and education;
Price controls on food and currency, huge subsidies for gasoline, and an increase in the minimum wage;
Deficit spending, funded in part by oil-for-debt swaps with China;
Devaluing the currency by printing massive amounts of currency;
Nationalizing corporations and assets in the oil, construction, electricity, telecommunications, and other industries.

We can simply ask Sanders to check “yes” or “no” next to each policy.

Maybe materialist, elitist ideas like electricity and a ready supply of deodorant, food, and diapers is overrated. Maybe it’s time for America to experience the pleasures of government rationing.

Imagine what socialism can accomplish if only we had the kind of leadership we can expect from Bernie Sanders.

Venezuela Runs Out of Toilet Paper, Achieves True Socialism
"New Socialism" looks and feels just like the old kind

In 1990 I went to a Cato Institute conference in what was then still the Soviet Union. We were told to bring our own toilet paper, which was in fact useful advice.

Now, after only 16 years of Chavista rule, Venezuela has demonstrated that “Socialism of the 21st Century” is pretty much like socialism in the 20th century. Fusion reports:

Venezuela’s product shortages have become so severe that some hotels in that country are asking guests to bring their own toilet paper and soap, a local tourism industry spokesman said on Wednesday….

“It’s an extreme situation,” says Xinia Camacho, owner of a 20-room boutique hotel in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada national park. “For over a year we haven’t had toilet paper, soap, any kind of milk, coffee or sugar. So we have to tell our guests to come prepared.”…

Montilla says bigger hotels can circumvent product shortages by buying toilet paper and other basic supplies from black market smugglers who charge up to 6-times the regular price. But smaller, family-run hotels can’t always afford to pay such steep prices, which means that sometimes they have to make do without.

Camacho says she refuses to buy toilet paper from the black market on principle.

“In the black market you have to pay 110 bolivares [$0.50] for a roll of toilet paper that usually costs 17 bolivares [$ 0.08] in the supermarket,” Camacho told Fusion. “We don’t want to participate in the corruption of the black market, and I don’t have four hours a day to line up for toilet paper” at a supermarket….

Recently, Venezuelan officials have been stopping people from transporting essential goods across the country in an effort to stem the flow of contraband. So now Camacho’s guests could potentially have their toilet paper confiscated before they even make it to the hotel.

Shortages, queues, black markets, and official theft. And blaming the CIA. Yes, Venezuela has truly achieved socialism.

But what I never understood is this: Why toilet paper? How hard is it to make toilet paper? I can understand a socialist economy having trouble producing decent cars or computers. But toilet paper? Pantyhose? And soap? And matches?

Sure, it’s been said that if you tried communism in the Sahara, you’d get a shortage of sand. Still, a shortage of paper seems like a real achievement.

Update: A mischievous commenter on FEE's Facebook page asks, "Have they tried printing more money?" And the answer is: yes. One thing socialist governments never run out of is paper money — maybe they'll find a use for it. - Ed.laugh

A vote for Bernie Sanders is a vote for the “cruel doctrine” of socialism, Greg Gutfeld said on “The Five” today.

He said that Sanders has been able to gain so much momentum in the 2016 race because “socialists put a blindfold on history.”

Gutfeld explained that socialism’s denial of progress – and the resulting mess it’s made in countries like Cuba, El Salvador and Venezuela – isn’t just wrong, it’s dangerous.

“It’s one step shy of radical Islam, rejecting innovation for medieval failure,” Gutfeld said. “It’s hard enough to craft policies for the unknown – whether it’s terror or war – so why are we embracing the evil of the known like socialism?”

He argued that socialism is a maggot on the marketplace: It can’t create, but only take through wealth confiscation, while failing to generate money or incentive.

“It kills growth because it crushes opportunity. Sure, Sanders seems like a really nice guy. But a vote for him isn’t a vote for a kind man, but a cruel doctrine that sticks to the planet’s shoe like toilet paper from the world’s worst restroom.”
