AA is useful; but, be careful not to just replace or exchange your addictions though. Being sober, again, for 7 months now has been hard, but the thought of that other lifestyle is enought to keep me straight. Many people use, whether its alcohol/drugs, technology, other people, etc., and realizing that life is full of choices between acts centered in the "me" vs. the "we" is hard for people who don't think outside of themselves. Live life on life's terms; and, remember, everyone makes their own choices. Trying to "recover" is not easy, especially without support, and meeting people who don't subscribe to the AA philosophy might make it harder to abstain (especially if AA is soemthing that really works for you). Meeting others who share your approach to life, whether its practicing soberity, using heavily, or somewhere in between, is a tricky task in and of itself. But, take it one day at a time, change your "playgrounds" if you have to, keep trying to meet new people who match your worldviews, sleep if you have to, but remain optimistic-good luck.

we are unable, at certain times, to bring into our consciousness with sufficient force the memory of the suffering and humiliation of even a week or a month ago. yhat first drink my last first drink put me in a coma. god bless and keep you |

the respons on this website shows that we all care about one another and we dont want to see you off the wagon, as we all care for you,, i have seen my uncle off the wagon before he was sober and it wasent good feeling,,, i also had a cousin that died from drinking so i can relate to what your going through. but on man is worth getting drunk over i have learned that lesson in the past
